Back in the late 80s - early 90s I was heavily into micro armor, a bunch of WWII, but an insane amount of modern. UberChris and I had quite the arms race going, getting more tanks and more variety over the years. We used the Challenger II rules set. Eventually our first foray into 6mm-ish died out and the stuff went into our respective cold storage areas...

I must've had some strong nostalgia for times like these:

...and I re-read "Red Army" and some other Cold War fiction classics, and realized we had enough stuff for some pretty kick-ass mega battles using E:A as the basis for the rules. I combined our respective collections into a gigantic one and set about painting it to a table top standard.

I've completed the ground forces for the Warsaw Pact, U.K., W. Germany, and Denmark, with USA, France and Netherlands to go, plus aircraft.

Without further ado, here's some pics. I aimed for speed of painting and taking advantage of the superb detail of GHQ and CinC micro armor with dry brushes and washes.

I knew there'd be at least one fan of this thread :P

What would the central front be without a dash of NBC warfare?

SCUD(more of an objective marker as I don't really need a weapon to wipe the entire board clean):

FROG-7 (for chem, tactical nuke, and wildly inaccurate conventional strikes):

This model is shapeways. There's a lot of interesting historical 6mm on there.

Dangerous thread this, you're making me want micro armour. I know I don't need micro armour, but seeing this makes me think otherwise …

I'm the same, my problem is that if I were to ever go down that route then I would end up recreating, in minute detail, entire Brigades. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Oh stop ! I'm getting all misty eyed !!!!! :D Yes, I remember going thru NBC Defense School. Wearing MOPP 4 all day on FTXs. Chemical Alarms, Radiac Meters, VX, Chem Decon, how to send a Chem down wind message, how figure out the yield of a nuc by size of the mushroom cloud, etc.. Good times ! ;) Being selected to go to Atomic Demolition Mission Officer training, the fun never stopped !!!! :spin ;D

But really, GHQ and CinC makes some great pieces. I do like GHQ's 3rd World Warriors http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/modern-m ... odern.html and Wehrmacht '47 http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/military ... rmour.html lines. As they could also be used for Epic as well. Their Mid East figures could make good Cultists. And using the Maus and E-100s for IG proxies etc., a
SdKfz 351/1 as a Rhino !

Again, great job on those big bad Russkies !!!!!

PT-76 and SO-21 (looks enough like a BMD that it'll probably do double-duty):

The cool thing about that is the Team Yankee TO&E from the book makes a pretty nifty formation for E:A
