Can you run through a quick How-To on your shining spears?

My basing is a mix of green flock and sand - the first flock I actually bought when I started the hobby 20+ years ago.

Thanks for the tips...my main concern is painting the base after the miniatures are on it and not ruining their paintjob in the process.

Anybody have any tips, perhaps masking?

Does that mean you put sand or other scenery items on the miniatures base disc and paint it along with the mini?

Or do you kind of add that after?

I do that too. Though nowhere near the quality of elsmore and others. I simply paint the base after I glued the minis in place. Fiddly but doable. I used textured colour combined with surface crackling paint, which gave a reasonably interesting surface at a reasonable time cost.

I'm ALIVE!!! Haha

I made it back from Russia just fine. Even though that was ages ago now I have been quiet for a number of reasons...none of them more than petty excuses I know, but work was tough and I didn't have time to work on my beloved little space elves.

Anyways, between then and now I went to the Welsh Warmachine / Hordes masters at Firestorm Games in Cardiff! It was great fun, I don't really play Warmahordes anymore but it was good to see the Leicester Phat Cats again and I started playing a whole new 1/300 scale game!!! Photos below!

X-Wing!!! What a game it is!!! So much fun that I ended up spending about £50 on the day and another £100+ since then on various awesome ships. I do plan on doing some repaints / conversions so watch this space if you like that kind of thing


Right! I'd also like to show you the modest progress on my space elves! I roughly finished the test-paints on the Eloi miniatures from TMG which are going to be my Black Guardians. I unfortunately realised too late that the Ulthwe list I want to play has two Farseers per unit of Guardians... So I don't even have a proper unit yet but I do like how these turned out so I plan to production line the remaining miniatures I need for the list! These pics are still WIP (one of the farseers needs some hairspray) as the bases are going to get some snow to really contrast the little dark emo soldiers.





Sorry again for being so slooooow with my updates, but I wanted to come back with some meat for you all to sink your teeth into!
