I did a scan of the thread and couldn't find your basing method (I believe the red scheme you describe is for the vehicles themselves). Would you mind sharing the basing scheme? Thanks!

Sure ! For my bases, I use the following colors and mix :

Image

Texture : Liquid rock from PA;
Undercoat : Doombull brown;
Shading : Strong tone from AP;
1st drybrush : mix made by 1/3 DB + 1/3 red ochre pigments + 1/3 water.
2nd drybrush : Tau set ochre;
Final drybrush : Flayed one flesh or Ushabi bone.

For the final effect, I set pure pigments over strategic aeras like ruins, stones, tracks ...
