Despite gaining a new addition to the family I have managed to make a non-zero amount of progress. Nothing too exciting, but hey, it's keeping things moving.

Evidently I got bored removing the (PITA) mould lines on the OTC Baku APCs. They could also do with more more highlighting maybe, but I doubt I will have the impetus to go back and do anything else. I had experimented with a camo pattern with my airbrush but it was laughably bad, I can't seem to get the lines fine enough - probably my lack of experience with it.

In the next two months I plan to get through:
a formation of pathfinders
6 hammerheads
skyrays
barracudas
After that, probably some gun drones and more fire warriors. Unfortunately I think it will be some time before I get my hands on recons and orcas, but I have plenty to keep me busy.

I have to break it to you: you are a painter, and a pretty good one at that.

These are great, keep them coming!

Well thanks for the comments guys.

Slowly but surely I am getting through them, with little bits done every few evenings I am keeping up a little momentum even if it might not seem so. Considering the new baby is a month old I'm relatively pleased. I even did some airbrushing experimentation on a phantom and warlock the other day.

The next formation to be completed is a small one: pathfinders.

I decided not to paint the helmets white to distinguish from the fire warriors, I wanted to keep the colours down but in hindsight perhaps I should have inverted the scheme with mostly grey armour. Oh well!

The railheads are also done, just waiting for varnish.

I basically forgot to update this thread over the last two years. The Tau army is mostly finished though with some big exceptions: more flyers still unpainted, and the manta. I did get through 2 orcas, a big pile of tanks and recons but admittedly the commitment fell and the vehicles don't look great. I will post pics when I get round to it.

However I have started painting some white scars, here's what I've done so far.

Two bike formations

Two scout formations

Terminators

I have tried to get away so far with just basecoat, wash and drybrush for the basic colour before adding details; some work better than others this way.

Next up is possibly land raiders, I've done one so far. I feel like the larger surfaces wouldn't come off so well so took a different tack, just highlighting the edges in white, possibly too subtle.

Holy Necro, Batman! :)
Yeah those scars are aceballs. I get your feels on the Mk2b raiders. Perhaps go back in around the hatch and the joints where the chassis mounts to the tracks and darken it up. That way they really pop?

Alrighty JZ, for you ;)

There is a bit of rust weathering pigment around the tracks but I ended up removing most of it, didn't think it looked right. Not really found a proper use for it yet.

I am such a lazy painter tho, I fear I have nearly exhausted my patience with the army already, I found the bikes a pain in the arse to paint, botch, fix, botch, fix, and still didn't really come out how I imagined in my head. Ah well. At least there aren't huge numbers of models to do in a marine army.

I'll be honest, merely attempting to paint an all white army is impressive in and of itself. I can't even bring myself to finish painting two deathstrike missiles I've been attempting to do for two years... Congrats on getting through that many units.
