awesome work on this army - having seen it in the flesh it really was a beautiful thing to see, even when bombing the hell out of my marines! :D

This is a great example of a really cohesive army built around a consistent theme of a few key colours. I'll be happy if my iron warriors turn out this nice! :D

Thanks for the compliments guys - really appreciate it :)

That brassy/gold is excellent and works very well with the red and green.
You have a very good eye.

The brass (Gehenna Gold I think) really looks fantastic after a wash of Devlan Mud/Nuln Oil. The Red and Black is the colour scheme of the Red Corsairs however I wanted to use the brass and another bright colour to break up that block. The green is an old white lid container of GW Scorpion Green - it has great fluorescence and a green wash really brings it out.

Your terminators, where are their spikes? was the removal on grounds of aesthetics, or are you using them as parts for another conversion?

I removed them as I didn't want my Terminators to be 'just spikey marines'. I've kept them and have used one of them to pad out the plasma gun that one of the Lords (aka converted Chaplain) is wielding.
I like Renegade Marines, ie one's that don't worship specific powers and aren't as 'cult like' however I've always had a little issue with the logic that if you're not a loyalist Marine you wear spikes...

They look even better in person ... plus they come with cupcakes!

This is a fantastic army which was a clear winner of best themed army on the day.
Very well deserved Al.
I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing more!

My next project is 3 Dreadclaws (aka Drop Pods and Red Corsairs don't get Dreadclaws) with 3 CSM Warbands plus old school metal dreadnoughts and Chaos Spawn.
I saw that someone here placed a drop pod on a flight stand, ie just as if it was about the crash. Love that idea and will use it for 1-2 of the Dreadclaws.

I'm sure they will Stingray - you're already mostly there :-)
I'm not a great painter (rely a lot on dry brushing and washes) nor do I have great patience on working slowly through little 6mm men... So the idea was to keep it simple.
In fact the thought of painting up another 24 CSM stands is.... bleh....

These look excellent tee, nice and cohesive.

I chuckled when I saw the bases on your flyers... I've started on some new ones for my Orks and that's the exact sort of approach I've taken too.

Good it coming!

Cheers
