With the appearance of interstellar vessels of the Iron Warriors traitor legion came their aerospace wings as well. Foul contraptions such as these known as Hell Talons were a common sight for the Imperial forces and their hard pressed air crews. Constructed with vectored engines allow for superior maneuverability and a fearsome array of autocannons and missiles, it was superior in air to air combat to almost any Imperial airship of any class present in the warzone. Even more threatening was the large array of precision munitions each fighter-bomber was capable of using in a CAS capacity.Attachment:

Believed to of originated in the dank corrupted factories of the forgeworld Xana II which exists fully within the Eye of Terror, each Hell Talon shot down during the course of the war was investigated by recovery crews. In all cases it was found to be piloted by a trio of servitors hard-wired into the cockpit and numerous devices of techno-heresies which required their rapid disposal by Mechanicus Magos. Believed to be largely based in the vast rugged mountainous Kotah peninsula, the region quickly became known by Imperial flight crews as 'Hell's Alley' and was the sight of innumerable dog fights and interdiction sorties.Attachment:

painters notes:
Finally some love back for the Iron Warriors! Woohoo!! I was able to track down a fairly reasonable ebay purchase a couple of weeks ago for the genuine deal so up they were.
In my typical Iron Warriors fashion, these were based with VMA Gunmetal color and the a set of random VMA Aluminum paint splotches and bits of drybrushing added to break it up. Since thematically these are in the fluff are more like the New-Cyclon Raiders than a regularly piloted vehicle and are purchased in bulk from the Dark Mechanicum, I wanted them to have a non-uniform appearance having likely been "purchased" as part of different "lots". I imagine it like buying a car from a lot, in hell (if I may paraphrase with):
Quote:
++WHY ARE YOU HERE DARK LORD?++
"I require 12 additional squadrons of Hell Talons for our Desolation class fleet carrier. What will this cost me?"
++CALCULATING… DONE.++
++WE REQUIRE 3000 OF YOUR CHATTEL SLAVES FOR PROCESSING INTO RANDOM SERVITOR SPARE PARTS++
"Excellent. I'll have them delivered from our slave holds shortly. Does this also come with spare parts for a crusade and enough fuel to fly them?"
++CALCULATING… DONE++
++THE TEARS OF A FALLEN ANGEL, COLLECTED IN A SILVER PHILTRE AND RENDERED FOR PROCESSING.++
"Umm...."
The more traditional one had the panel strips picked out in GW Mithril silver while the other used a mixture of GW Baal Red wash and AP Soft Tone ink brushed on as a tint/acrylic filter straight into the panel recesses. Panel strips were then done with Dwarf bronze to make it stand out. The mechanical gribblies were done in VMC Brass. The glowing engine panels are GW Imperial Blue, then some Hawk Tourquise, then VGC Sky Blue, and topping it off with a little white. Cockpits were a random assortment of old GW greens (Dark Angel Green, Goblin Green, Snot Green IIRC) applied over the gunmetal more as a glaze than a paint. I then hit them with a wee bit of green ink to soften the transitions. Each got a a good hit with black oil wash all over. As these guys are not "full" Iron Warriors and just servitor schlubs, they only deserve small amounts of the Construction Chevrons, unlike their masters!
