Well ive decided to stop making new threads for everything and have a single log for all my epic projects.

The kreig and necrons are on hold as i return to the chaos force I started, and failed to finish in, ToEG09. Im aiming to expand the project into all ares of chaos, and loosely plan to cover the following:

Black legion –  early WIP
Khone/WE – mid WIP
Nurgle – early WIP
Tzeen – very early WIP
Slaanesh – early WIP
Chaos squats – separate log here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18824
Forge of Souls/daemon world – early WIP
Cultists – not started
Dark Mech – not start
and possibly iron warriors and a chaos titan legion...  it should be a fun year if i get the time.

Had some unexpected free time this weekend, so i made a start on a small Forge of Souls army ive been thinking about for a while now. This is to represent a defense force raised in order to repel a take-over bid from one of the major chaos factions, or a genera daemon world army with a manufacturing/forge theme. Currently thinking of using the LaTD list with proxies, something along the lines of:

enslaved souls/semi-sentient nightmare creatures = cultists/mutants
blind, mutating forge daemons = big mutants
dragon ogre things = traitor rough riders
soul grinders = defilers
spirit construct WEs = slaanesh knights
Master of the forge = greater daemon or possibly LoB
Breath of the forge = cannon or chaos alter with a forge bellows theme

more ideas very welcome.

Unfortunately ive misplaced my bag-o-epic bases, but a rummage through various boxes got me enough to make a start:

Some enslaved souls:

Started work on a spirit construct, these will have a core of twisted strings of wired up zombies (souls) contained within rough pieces of armor (bits of tank, salvaged titan carapace etc).

nightmare creatures - these dont photograph well, ive been experimenting with using chameleonic nano flakes suspended in 'ard coat on them. the result is a subtle petrol film sheen as your view changes.

Oustanding stuff!

@Thousand Sons Marine: I did the same. But i glued the Disk Rider headdress on a CSM where i shopped the plume off.

Truly inspirational stuff, as always. The old chaos models are lots of fun, aren't they?

Thanks for the comments. Great thousand sons BL, i was thinking the head piece on mine looked to big but ts perfect on the newer CSMs you used.

I scribbled a few concepts for breath of the forge today (hell cannon or alter proxy) which boil down to this. It would be carried into battle by a horde of souls and have nightmare creatures crawling on it/operating it with chains.

Had the afternoon off so decided to make a start on the daemonic bellows, which due to their size are now probably altars. A lot of work still needed:

How about mounting the "breath" on wheels and the slaves/souls in front of it dragging it across the battlefield?

Ooh ooh ooh!  :O

Sorry, that was me having a geek-gasm

Loving all of this thus far.  Your Thousand Sons are exactly how I intend to do mine.

Love the Khornate Centaurs, too

Can't wait to see the count-as Slaanesh Engines, I like where that's going so far.

By the way, that's an impressive amount of EW zombies; I expect Tom would thank you for keeping him in beer, if he hadn't given it up for lent, ha!  :p
