I started playing Epic during the Adeptus Titanicus/Space Marine era and left the game before the rectangular-based madness that was Epic 40,000.  My main force was always Orks and they were the one army that didn't get hurled into the dumpster when it was time to make some room in the garage. That being said, my "surviving" Ork army was painted well over a decade ago and is in serious need of a revamp.

Much has obviously changed with the game (WHERE da heck did all da Orky tanks go!?) and I have lots of new inspiration & ideas about what my Orks could look like.  This thread is a detail of progress with new models and the transition from my Space Marine era Goff-esque schemes to a newer look.

Before the tag-team of rubbing alcohol & Simple Green clean the boyz up, this is a sample of what my army has looked like for years:

Starting off with the revamp, it seems like a good idea to begin working on building/acquiring some of the basic Epic Ork units that aren't present in my old army like Landas, Flakwagonz, & Fighta Bommas.

I recently found a reasonably priced blister of the Flakwagons and I also started converting a few off of the old plastic Battlewagon chassis.  This one was inspired a bit by the Mobelwagen and it's a color test for my army:

Welcome back and esp welcome as you're green!

No need to re-colour them, is there?

I like it. Very nice rusted and weathered scheme. Are you going to base your vehicles?

@Erik M:  Thanks for the WB!  :))
Working through a re-color is a good thing for me.  While I like the old colors, the models have been that way forever and I'll enjoy painting them up into a new scheme with some additional conversion work.

@Malakai:  I have never been a fan of based vehicles with the exception of walkers and a few other odd bits that seemed to need a base like the plastic buggies.  My Slasha's & Mekboy Gargants are due to get rebased on 40mm rounds.

Hi,
I like the old style model very much, they have a very special look to them.
The army looks great, and I can't wait to see more.
Best,
Eyal.

Plastic Battlewagon > Flakwagon #2 is nearing completion. Aside from more gubbinz, an ammo runt & a gitfinda for the gun, it's good to go.

After my eyes uncross from staring at fiddly details, I think I'll try my hand at some Fighta Bommas. ;D

likewise; i really like the level of detail you're managing to get with the plasticard.
Will get round to something like that myself somewhen...

I really like what you've done with those Ork tanks, definitely a thread to bookmark for future reference.  :)

co-incidentally is there a posibillity of some sort of 'how to' on the plasticard stuff? I've a load of ancient battlewagons that are gonna act as my khornate transporters but want to disguise them a little!

@MoK, I was planning a brief 101 on converting the plastic Battlewagonz and I'll hopefully have that up for my next effort.  Working with p-card in Epic scale is new to me, but it's really the same stuff you would do for super detailing in 40K scale.  Tiny tweezers are a HUGE plus! ;D

The old wagonz would fit perfectly into a Khorne army with that spiky skull-ram thing on the front. That bit always struck me as odd since it wasn't part of the old 28mm plastic kit.

Here is the finished flakwagon:

A couple days of not travelling netted me enough time to strip out an old Bonebreaka and plug in some minor converting to create another Flakwagon.  I'm tremendously happy that most of my old Epic stuff is lead because I think I would have lost a finger or my sanity if the turret was pewter.

The Bonebreaka always struck me as being better suited to AA with those fancy dual kannonz and the krew looking skyward.

I have been basing stands that I don't already have, which at the moment means Grots, Grots, and more Grots.  Seeing as how some of the little buggers are going on stands of Big Gunz, I got cracking on making up a battery.

First up is what will likely become a proxy for a Soopagun.  I had an old Big Lobba laying in my bits box and it seemed like a good fit for this project.  I still have detail to add and am trying to figure out how to make an ammo crane for the back end.

C&C welcome. :)
