I've been working on a Hydraphant :)

It's even bigger than the Maleceptor / Dominatrix conversions I'm doing and mounted on a CD. It's an easier conversion and mostly done now, but I plan to probably swap the claw for the larger one from a 40k Haruspex when I can source one. I don't entirely like the look of the cluster spine weapon, in an ideal world I'd have used smaller scaled versions of the acid spray and biocannon that come with it, but those ones just look too big and overpowering on it as a titan.

I'm going to make a second one along the same lines, so I can run a pair of them in a 3k or 4k list.

Comments or suggestions welcome.

Looks really good! Probably a little on the big side (aren't hydraphants only DC6?), but size can be excused with awesomeness

I agree it's too big! I'm going with it anyway though. Yeah 6DC, 4++ though the added toughness of having an invulnerable save. It doesn't seem unreasonable that tyranids would breed bio-titans around the size of Warlord titans for planet's they're meeting strong resistance on. I'm doing it for the looks and aiming more for best army painting prizes at tournaments than getting gaming advantage to win them (at best I've come mid table at tournaments and come last at a few). I'm unsure if larger size is overall an advantage of disadvantage in game? It can cover more ground and I can position objectives spread a distance apart where it can capture both but a 60mm based titan wouldn't. On the flip side it makes it harder to hide behind smaller pieces of terrain and so they'll get shot more.

I was originally going to base it on the 90 by 120mmm oval base the Tyrannofex comes with and I'm using for the Dominatrixes. The front pair of legs would have to be posed going mostly forwards then and I really wanted to have the model posed more like the old epic model with those legs going sideways as per this:

One outstanding bit I haven't decided what to use for yet - anyone got any suggestions what to use as the tail end? I've cut the tail part way down and am going to repose it so it curls inwards like on the old model, but ideally I'd like a modern part akin to the most of a circle cutting blade like the old model. There are various tail ends on 40k tyranid models I could use but I haven't found a good match yet.

Wow! That is a stunning model! What is the main body and legs made from?

Thanks :) I do like to add extra detail where I can.

The tyrannies are on pause at the moment and I'm working on a Knight and Admech army, but I'll get back to them eventually.

Keep thinking of Ad Mech, always liked the idea of them. Plus the knights are great models. Look forward to see pictures of them painted.

Yeah I like the look of the Knights models. I've made some progress, but still have a long way to go:

They will look great painted.

Where are the oval bases from, they look a useful size.

I got them custom made with a company who laser cut bases. They're scaled down versions of the oval bases knights are on in 40k.

Frosted Ultra Detail. It's even more fragile than resin so you have to be careful when handling and transporting it but the detail is excellent.

I've not tried the cheaper white plastic that's an option on some shapeways items, but I've heard it's lower detail and rough textured, so maybe suitable only for certain scenery pieces.
