Hello everyone:

I went through the old WIP FAQ thread and found that it was much more extensive than I remembered. After I copied it into an editable doc, I had 5 and 1/2 pages of 10 point type.

I was thinking of a strategy on how to handle it. Here's what I have so far. Please comment.

1) I don't want to re-write any existing FAQs. It's just likely to cause confusion. However, I am okay with appending additional clarifications as needed. As an example, I don't want to change the Slow Fire/Warhound question but I do think it would be worth it to add a sentence stating that it applies to all multi-shot slow-fire weapons, not just the Warhound.

2) We will definitely need to have a big breakout of all the charging/barging/ZoC questions. In fact, I might even break that out into 2 discussions - one about ZoC for all the Scout-related issues and another dedicated to barging.

3) In looking through the old FAQ thread and some of the linked discussions, I think it's probably worth it to have an extended discussion on fortifications. They have had a long series of ad hoc rules dating all the way back to the Epic scenarios that were included in the Eye of Terror worldwide campaign. TRC successfully nailed down quite a few details with Baran FAQs, but there's still more to be done.

For example, there are bunkers as terrain features, bunkers as semi-units with DC so they can be destroyed but without activations, and I know I've personally played scenarios with bunkers that were full-on 0cm move units with mounted weapons, CC and FF.

For the FAQs I think we should stick with "just the facts, ma'am" but a document to provide overall guidance on special terrain features might be a reasonable outgrowth (cue Chroma and his theoretical terrain supplement).

Sounds good to me.
I look forward to the charging/barging/ZoC discussions! :)

A call on how many dice to roll when teleporting a WE would be good.

Sounds like a good approach Neal.
If you want any help proof reading (by which I really mean 'checking for loop holes' lol) let me know and I'd be happy to pitch in.

Incidentally is it worth contacting jj to get the FAQ uploaded for the benefit of all?

Honestly, I hadn't thought of that at all. The SG response back in the day was that the 2008 docs were going to be the last stuff they did.

What does everyone here think? Is it worth it to pursue a more "official" update?

Sure, why not? I'd not spend too much energy on it, but it can't hurt to ask.

The more that we can get posted by GW officially the better. Especially for new players who may not know of the existence of Taccoms.

I figure nothing's lost by asking something like "a few more FAQ's came up over the past 4 years and they've been answered... no Errata changes to the online rules have happened, only FAQ's".

There might even be a remote chance to get the Ork Grot and IG Valkyrie stats in the online rulebook fixed if he says it can be done (they were accidentally given the stats of Ork Boyz and IG Vultures in the 2008 rules review).

And if he says it can't be done, like I said, it's not like anything's been actually lost by asking.

+1 from me to.

Obviously we will need to provide the revised FAQ, and indeed SG response might even give some indication of their intentions about the future of their site.

I could check with this. When the SG resources went down last week on the GW site, I was actually in conversation with Andy. I sent him all my pdf documents from the GW site that he forwarded on to GW IT to check to make sure that they had the full set uploaded. Earlier today, I actually dropped him an email to ask about additional resources such as the BFG FAQ and EA Chaos lists. I will let you know the response.

Neal has his email addy. Hell, most of us ended up with it in the end.

Perhaps everyone could send the same email at once to make it clear he's not acting alone. :-)

Is there a thread for asking questions that might enter the FAQ? I'd like some kind of semi-official answer to what "within" means for dismounting from vehicles (to use Warmachine terminology, is it "within" or "completely within").
