Do Voidshields/Powerfields protect against "hackdown hits" from loosing an assault?

I wouldn't think so. However, RAW they do.

Hits and damage are used interchangeably through the rules, and 1.4.1.1 only refers to exclusions for Close Combat, which "hackdowns" technically aren't (else Skimmers wouldn't take them from losing in assaults to CC only formations).

Though I'm a bit befuddled. Most units with void/power shields have Fearless, so for the most part, not an issue. IIRC it's only the MekBoy Speedsta that has the former without the latter. Well, and Knight Castellan/Crusaders.

I would say no, as they're meant to represent troops lost through panic/fleeing. What has them that doesn't have Fearless though?

EpicUK has an Ork upgrade of powerfields to Battlefortresses, IIRC.

I think you can easily manage your assault placement to ensure the shield would be removed before it gets to hack down in most circumstances.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Ordinati. Sometimes I think they should have Fearless, but that's a discussion best left for another thread.

They even don't generate Blastmarker so i guess they don't count in Assault resolution either.

given that hackdown hits represent casualties/ damage due to fleeing a lost fight, it's hard to see how, RAW or not, hackdown hits could be applied to shields. It would make more sense if casualties from assault resolution weren't referred to as "hits" as they are in the rules (whether they're from fleeing troops being shot in the back or not).

Perhaps you could justify loosing shields to hackdown hits via..

"Divert all power to engines, get us the heck out of here!"

true, that's the joy of Epic, it's so abstract that you can justify pretty much anything you like. The only difficulty is getting everyone else to agree with you ;)

Lol, yes. There is a great deal of subjective opinion involved in Epic.
