The Epic Armageddon Handbook 2008: Core Rules and a dozen Army Lists, covering the miniature ranges currently available for sale from Specialist Games & Forge World.

Finalised and ready for printing out. 88 pages of Epic goodness!

EPIC ARMAGEDDON HANDBOOK 2008

Note: the version above does not have changes from the original epic rules highlighted. If you prefer, here is a version with changes marked in blue:
http://www.box.net/shared/coquyz84hj

This Handbook is now effectively a fresh set of experimental rules, but incorporated seamlessly into the rules themselves rather than as an errata document. To see what changes have been made and why, see Neal Hunt's ERC change documents available here:
http://forum.specialist-games.com/topic ... C_ID=13072
A brief 2 page summary sheet of these Change Documents is also available here:
http://www.box.net/shared/zxnrksjwo8

For development history of the Handbook see here:

Feedback in this Thread: Please try to separate off discussion of rule changes and rule issues into their own threads (if they are going to be lengthy...), but link to those from this thread. Editorially this document should now be pretty clean, but undoubtedly typos remain. Please keep posting details of these here, no matter how small you think they are.

Credits: Huge thanks for the enthusiastic and invaluable editorial assistance that has come from numerous Epic players active at Specialist Games and here at Tactical Command, from the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Finland, France, Denmark, Spain, Japan, Italy, Austria, Poland, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and others, and special thanks to Neal Hunt for compiling the change documents. Couldn't have done it without you all!

Long live Epic!

Yes. Love it.

On idea:
- maybe "major changes" to original rules could be an appendix III? This way old players who pick up the book can check from the end what have changes. This might be too taxing to do, but an idea.. simply like "Engagement support changed (p12). Space marine costs modified (p. 52)  etc"
Most probably no need to put clarifications here

Cheers guys :)

rpr, not a bad idea, but figured that if people want the change list, they can print out Neal's change list and bind it together with the Handbook - and that's probably better because they can see the justifications and thought processes behind them. Also, it's a little less work for me, and I can get on with painting and playtesting :D  A 'summary of changes' section might be a nice idea though, especially once these have been playtested thoroughly and a set of changes have been finalised for the next version.

Errata:

Hi Markconz,

and congrats for the fantastic work !  :D

Just noticed a small typo, though : p.55, "Bezerkers of Khorne" should be "Berzerkers of Khorne".

Hi there, excellent work to all concerned!

I've got an issue with the intermingling rule as I think it should be clarified in the handbook. ?Added a thread here:

Just noticed that 'Ork Landa' has swapped CC and FF values (has CC 4+, FF 6+, should be CC 6+, FF 4+) and does NOT have 2x Tankbusta rokkits as it should have

Thanks for the latest pointers. As a Jervis updated version of this will be going in the vault at SG soon, any further proofing is much appreciated.

The handbook has more changes to the rules than were incorporated into the Specialist Game's 2008 official review.

Thanks a lot for this marvelous piece of work.  :agree:

A few questions remain:

In the LatD part (5.12), the initiative rating is 3+ for all formations. It used to be 2+ for daemon engine aircraft and traitor navy. I guess due to the fact that they cannot benefit from the "faction" special rule. Is this a typo?

The other typo  I found is in 5.13.2 (Tau Units). The Tiger Shark Strike Craft should not have "Transport(4*)" and their missiles are called "Aircraft Seeker Missiles" not "Aircraft Tracer Missiles". The stats are correct though.

Note that Nealhunt's changes list got lost in the forum migration: would it be possible to get an updated link?
