Wow, another year comes to an end. Where does the time fly? I’m not even sure I was having fun this time. At the end of each year I like to recap my wargaming exploits, and begin to lay the groundwork for the following year.

At the start of 2016, these were my goals:

Painting and Modelling
1. Assemble my Robotech RPG Tactics models- Still in the box! I was put off by all the work involved and bad reviews of the assembly process. Maybe this year?
2. Paint All Quiet on the Martian Front forces- I painted what I had! I added more, so I still have some mobile artillery and a MKIV tank.
3. Paint 2 Gladiator Chariots for The Games: Blood and Spectacle- Painted!
4. Complete Painting my Necromunda Campaign- Still W.I.P.
5. Paint Inquisitor 28mm Warband- The what now? Still unpainted and collecting dust.

Rules Writing
1. Complete the rules for Combat! Starring Vic Morrow!- Complete!
2. Complete the core rules for 1 other Wargame system that was TBD- I actually finished two and got a good start on 2 more! See the links in the upper right hand corner.

Purchases
1. Buy all Osprey Wargame Series- Completed! I am still waiting on Rogue Stars and Chosen Men. You can see the reviews posted in December.
2. Operation: Icestorm for Infinity- I haven’t really looked for it. The game’s bloat put me off.
3. Buy some WWII Models for Combat! – Ha, ha, ha, ha……

Playing
1. Play a game of JUGS- Complete! I actually played 2!
2. Necromunda- Nope...
3. Aquanautica Imperialis- Sadly, no….
4. AllQuiet on the Martian Front- Yes, I played a handful of games for the Minnesota River Valley campaign.
5. Combat!- No, but….. reasons!
6. Continue my RPG Campaign- yes, but it sadly fizzled when a key player got deployed. It’s dead Jim!
7. Play 1 new TBD game system I mostly played my own stuff this year, BUT I did play a game of Super Systems 4th Edition!

I had 17 objectives and I completed 9 of my Objectives. That is better than I expected! I also managed to complete a few things not on my list too. I painted some new gladiators and played a couple games of The Games: Blood and Spectacle and Castles in the Sky. Finally, I started a silly blog at the tail end of the year too.

It is funny how the winds of fate twist and turn you through the year like an autumn leaf on a cool October breeze. I started off strong up until about March. Then, real life got in the way of hobby time until about December. Most of my year was spent reading and reviewing rules and writing my own while wishing I could play. Sadly, there was not a lot of playing time.

So, onward into next year! I will have to start assembling my objectives for 2017. Some pictures are on the blog.

Now, it is your turn. What is your year in review?

Nothing much to tell. painted 8 infantry stand, got 4 titans to a satisfactory level, started painting various new products none finished, haven't built much either and not a single game of anything has been played. Vanguard blitzes all my once plentiful free time. :(

Two jobs means don't even bother with an objectives list it's pointless.

Still one day vanguard may bring enough in that I can quit the day job and go full time vanguard at least one job should mean a freeing up of the evenings and weekends so I can once again start posting finished models in my long neglected 6mm hobby thread.

Before 2016 the smallest scale model I'd even handled let alone painted was FoW in 15mm. Most of my gaming since being a wee nipper has been GW and it's various SGs over the years. Never had I owned a painted army (the furthest most forces ever got was a squad or regiment if they were lucky). And most systems would manage a few months before one or other of our more "facially hairy" players managed to find a game-breaking combo or three.

Now I have a 6000+ point Steel Legion force painted that has all the necessaries to moonlight as 4000+ points of Krieg as well as part painted Necrons, Space Marines and the barest roots of an Iyanden army.

I'm loving painting in 6mm. I'm rubbish but the horde nature of formations mean that I can still feel proud of each unit completed.

352 redcoats done and still itching for more. With scores of friendly NetEA games and my first proper tournament under my belt 2016 was a very good gaming year. :)

Bring on 2017

This year i painted up a SM force and my Dark Eldar Force. I also started painting my Warmaster Empire army.

I hosted two Epic-tournaments and did alot of work on the Gargant list.

I played in 4 Infinity tournaments and decided to only play 200p limited insertion for thar game in the future.

For 2017 i will continue building my LatD army and also start buying and painting eldars for Epic. I will start painting my Warmaster Demon army also.

Preach it brother. I am a full time+ wage slave and own 2 small town, physical location, businesses. I hear you about time.

For me, my objectives list is vital if I want to make ANY hobby progress year to year. I highly recommend it.

I managed about 30 warmaster units this year. For me, that is an incredible achievement and outstrips any other year in my whole life for painting and modelling stuf.

Undercoated a massive amount of SM and IG.

Built a lot of terrain (trees, hills, ruins, and a large amount of buildings from Angel Barrack range painted and based)

Assembled my Blood Bowl teams x 4

Diversified my wargaming, or added to the lead pile depending on how you look at it, and started playing bolt action. So build a couple of small armies for it along with a few buildings

Now this year I actually aim to paint.....

Hi!

2016 was momentous for me.

1. The Accumulation phase for the primarch-projects really blossomed. I now have a couple of hundreds of pounds of metal laying around ready to be sorted.

2. I hired 4 new painters. Each as of this writing has one of the commissions in their custody and have/will begin work soon.

3. Work on custom infantry lines hit an all time high this year (SM, chaos, eldar) all done.

4. Imperial Titan project was concluded. Waiting deployment. ;)

It was a great year, although I suspect 2017 may top it.

To another great year for the epic hobby!

Primarch

pretty low hobby year for me. Having two jobs, as people have said above, is not good for hobby time.

All i really did was some black templars and a couple of chaos war engines. The BT were fun to paint and i'm pleased with the looks, but I already had a functional marine army, so they arn't that useful.
I had meant to get my knight army done, but painted zero mini for it this year due to unresolved colour scheme questions (same fate as my on hold ogryn army). Overall this meant i got zero new armies to a 3k playable level this year …

On the gaming front I was more successful and attended more events than in previous years.

2017: i'd like to get some guard stuff done and maybe finally base my titans + do robots for 3k AMTL (AMTL have been languishing the last 2 years as i decided i don't like the colour scheme :D ).

edit, just went back and checked and im now feeling a bit more positive. in 2016 i painted:

1 Deathwheel
1 Decimator
1 banelord (80% painted in 2015, but needed glueing, basing, and finishing paint)
6 imperial fighters/bombers
4 Black Templar scout stands
4 BT centurions
4 BT assault marines
5 BT landspeeders
2 BT hunters
2 BT razorbacks
2 BT stormtalons
1 BT land raider terminus ultra (freem the heretic!)
1 BT dread
6 BT rhinos (technically part of my unfinished lander so these are kinda still WIP)
80% of a landing craft (… still missing at least two components and i've only painted the top, but he's fine for tabletop standard pending finalisation)

also brutalised an innocent kakapo, converted a leviathan, built two deathwheels, etc etc
