Yeah, the music videos are driving me crazy. Some of them are outright depressing.

The goonies movies are basically stuff like Spy Kids now. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I can see why it does not feel the same. It's like JZ says. They're not interested in exploring the same worlds you are. They will a bit, but even if they aren't involved in technology all the time, it is around them most of the time. That means that at some point during a movie they watch, they are going to expect some form of technology. Even in movies like Wild West or Pirates of the carribean there is often some object or thing that was built. That never happened in the goonies as far as I recall. Some thing that we, as normal folk, don't quite know how to build it. In the goonies any thing or idea they had was something we could concievably build or find in our real life.

Those family friendly movies really are mostly animations. Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Wreck it Ralph. Other family movies are things like Spider Man and Ender's Game now. A lot more actiony, with technology always involved.

As to movies that have been out lately. Has anyone been watching the Avengers series of movies, and the TV show that goes with it?

I've ben getting into it recently. The show had a bad start, but the whole lot of them are starting to come together now.

I got fed up with the Agents of Shield series after a few episodes, sorry! I do enjoy Arrow which is poorly acted but trashy fun.

Speaking of which: White House Down. Utter nonsense, but it made me laugh quite a few times and was essentially Die Hard in the White House. Worth a watch if you want to see a funny but mindless action flick. Relentlessly stupid!

I did as well but then people said that I missed out it finally got it's feet around episode 8 and by the end was downright good so now I need to check it out from the library now. :/

Since we're talking about TV, been pretty enthusiastic about Hannibal. Amazing to say but the characterization that Mads Mikkelsen is able to show outshines Sir Anthony Hopkins. Also the April Fools Day "trailer" for In The Kitchen With Hannibal was brilliant :)

Missed the trailer but I agree that Hannibal is excellent, I'm thoroughly enjoying it! No spoilers please Jimmy, we're only at episode 5 of season 2 over here in the UK. Like Game of Thrones, the episodes don't come around quick enough!

Speaking of which I am very concerned about what is going to happen tomorrow night with Tyrion. I haven't read the books so don't know what will happen (which is much more fun Im guessing).

Hannibal season two was fantastic. Even if it had been awful, it would had been fantastic for one reason alone:

(don't worry that's not a spoiler, that's an altogether different sexy fun time film!)

I enjoy it too, but I think I can say that I wouldn't miss it if I stopped watching.

Watched The Wolverine and Kick Ass 2. The Wolverine was virtually humourless and completely flat. I kept wondering when something would happen. Completely, and disappointingly underwhelming.

Kick Ass 2 at least offered some laughs but really it was a pale imitation of the original - very good - film. There was little tension because the villain was a comedy character that you couldn't take seriously and too much of the film featured that all too familiar will they, won't they give up their careers as crime fighters (Superman 2, SpiderMan2, The Dark Knight Rises). Even more disappointing than The Wolverine.

October 1st was the #DayofDredd day on Twitter. I spammed the hell out of it in the probably vain pursuit of a sequel to the Dredd movie. But this happened to me and it made it all worthwhile;

Good to see someone in close contact with their fan base :-D I was discussing Dredd 2 with nerd friends over too much wine and we concluded that Fatties would be a great choice B-)

So far I'm really enjoying Stranger Things. Very great feel for the 80's classics from ET, D.A.R.Y.L., Wargames, The Goonies while at the same time not afraid to do it's own thing and a bit of Lovecraftian horror as well. Basically it's the Cad lovechild of Steven King and and Spielberg,

I'm looking forward to it :) After some poorer series, 10 was actually rather good. I'm not big on TV and there's literally only 3 series I chose to watch these days and Red Dwarf is one of them.

Rick and Morty is also excellent and strongly recommended if any of you haven't seen it. It's a twisted animated sci-fi comedy, referencing Back to the Future and other classics.
