Hi mates
if a detachments has say 6 bases and 6 more support bases, does it take 6 fire attacks or 12 fire attacks to cause a withdrawl?
thank you
Cheers Mike

Formations become broken based on the total number of units in a formation.
So, if there was a formation with 6 Imperial Guard units, and 3 Chimeras, it would take 9 Blast Markers to break the formation.
Hope that helps (Not sure it will heh).

Once you pick up a core formation, there are two additional types of formation that you can add.
One type add bases to the core formation, increasing its size and meaning that it counts as (in this case) a single formation of 12 units (meaning twelve blast markers to break, etc), and one counts as a seperate formation making two formations of six.
I hope that this helps.
