GW is not a beacon of joy. However, I wonder if these moves could actually help epic in the long run. The unique and thus untouchable designs by e.g. Onslaught is the future. Not exact replicas of whatever...

A fact either lost upon GW or like the ostrich "burying their head" to this fact.

My prediction is that all the model will become available again with merely a change in name and a tag "for use with". Given how certain laws function in Hungary the only real issue is using the GW names, since these sculpts were done from scratch and can be considered derivative works.

I suspect that GW are hoping that the whole Chapterhouse case was an aberration, and that any small company they end a C&D to will just fold - most small companies don't have a friendly team of lawyers willing to work for free to prove a point.

From what was explained to me they have some interesting/protections for derivative works. Note none of these models are recasts. They are hand sculpted from scratch. That apparently means something there. Of course the names are trademarked those have to change.

However he could call them "sci-fi tank" for use with any 6mm game and I believe there is little GW could do about that, since he made the model sculpt himself.

To be honest, given the talent of the sculptor(s) I'd rather see them produce their own designs anyway. They could probably produce something much more exciting than a scaled down version of a design that's getting a bit long in the tooth anyway.

Czech Law probably has more in common with Austria or Germany than Hungary. It is probably full of more red tape, and typically bureaucratic and 'kafka-esque". Of course we know this because Kafka is from CZ, but I can also relate my own experiences from having lived there for about 6 years. They are part of the Shengin(SP?) agreement so in terms of international laws and treaties etc. they probably have more in common with Germany than UK does (since UK isn't part of Shengin).

However in terms of copyright they do have some oddities. Since you can't get services like netflix there, you are allowed to legally download a torrent of a TV show. However you're legally not allowed to upload a torrent file of a TV show. I think it's the same for movies, but I KNOW it is legal for TV shows.

If they names of the products are the same, that probably explains the issue.

Its a shame I only heard about this now, since I've been living there for some many years and wanted a guard army. I should have found them at some point and bought from them. I didn't even know there were other EPIC players in the country.

Are the Troll/Bridge taking orders ? With the demise of Exodus Wars ... I need as few more Infantry in Great Coats. and may even get some of their Guys in Tank Tops or Shirtless ... Why not get some from the Trolls ? They all should look good mixed in with my other 6mm ... I can't seem to make an order on their site ?
