Hello All,

How many people have built ships BIGGER than Battleships? I am focusing on imperial ships mainly, but any others will do. I suppose the following qualify:

Super Battleships
Dreadnoughts
Super Dreadnoughts
Carrier varients of the above

What I want to know is how did you build them, what parts etc. If possible include pictures.

The reaon for this is I am planning some ships that are bigger than battleships, and I need some ideas of how to build them!!

Cheers

Chris

It's a nice model, and I have seen it before. For my ships I was going to expand upon the basic Imperial battleship design, but thanks for the link.

Cheers

Chris

On the US BFG site there are a few pictures of conversions of (pretty big ??? ) ships that (I think) were also in the "Invasion" booklet (I'm in the UK so I can't confirm this..)
Hope that helped. I'm interested to see what you come up with.. so post again if you finish your monstorous ship.
Hehe I quite fancy building a Hulk now (not asteroidal like GW's Ork one).........

I think most of the "big" ships in the invasion booklet where just varients of the current big ships, unless you are counting port maw!

Most of the are, except (obviously) Port Maw and a SOB vessel (I managed to pick up a copy shipped from the US).

I guess that you are thinking of the Mars conversion (pg10) - it also made one of the US Troll magazines (a black vessel). This is a normal cruiser size, cut down a bit with a 40K tank sprue added. It is a good model, and looks the business, but seems normal cruiser sized, or a little smaller.

I have seen a few space stations decked out like navel carriers (flat top, ranks of planes etc). they always look impressive as super carriers, all they need are some engines...

Trouble is, you dont need the flat top in space. There was a discussion about this a while ago. You just need to chuck them out as fast as you can.

Yeah, thanks CyberShadow I belive you are right about the Mars model, and hmmm, the flat top thing, I don't think they look all that good anyway :L .. I think the Imperial Blackstone on the BFG Blue book is a good example of this- it doesn't look too great in my opinion.. :l ..what do you guys think?

I always liked the flat top design although your point makes scense CS. I guess nothing short of a large gun filles with fighters would be fast enough to launch the fighters for the imperium. :)

As for the Imperial Blackstone in the blue book, I like it consider the blackstone mini in the first place is pretty crap!

While the Blackstone isn't the best BFG model, there are far worse I'm thinking... :;): what's your particular dislike about it?

I have no problem with the design of the model, its the actual model itself that i don't like. When its put together i doesn't look right to me although i like the whole pyramid thing (especially as they are nowlinked to the C'tan).

I agree that there are worse models in the range though, I personally think that the Chaos escorts are horrable!

I am an old Space Fleet player and think some of the newer designs are getting kind of cheesy. I know in space the shape of a vessle doesnt matter. I just liked the ship designs early on. I always felt a ships silouette shouldn't say shoot me please. I am getting off track. So, I will shut up now.  :p
