WestSide - I could easily adopt the bobble head style, if I so chose.

E&C is working on his people skills again...

The proportions don't seem too off to me - bulky, but they're wearing gear and helmets. Detail could be finer, but with my painting skill it's irrelevant anyway.

well, my fst draft had you [i] sharpening [/] your people skills.

Seriously though, your stuff is good enough, you don't need to smack talk the competition.

Just wondering, has anyone that placed an order received any of the miniatures yet? And if so, how do they look.

I really can't get into learning a new rule set, or try getting into a new background, but some of the miniatures look like they would be fun just to model and paint. Quite often stuff looks pretty good in the photos and when you get an example, meh.

Release date is July 23. If I get my stuff much before then I'd be very surprised. I'll certainly be posting thoughts when they do arrive, however.

Thanks for the info SG, I missed that bit about the date on Hawks site, so much to see and read.

I'm really trying to resist buying the Scourge army deal. I really like the models and I usually don't go for the aliens so it would be a change of pace. Sadly I just have so many other hobby activites.

I am a little concerned that the rules sound promising:

viewtopic.php?f=45&t=23519

I had just assumed that with the awesome minis, the rules would be an afterthought that I would be able to pick up a couple of packs of stuff I liked and move on.....

A new game is one thing, but a couple of armies for a new game in a new scale is something else!

The miniatures are awesome, the cast is great, the details stunning. The rulebook is well written, buy that stuff. So far I am very pleased with everything. So far my thoughts after having it for about a week.

With the infantry and the above 'discusion' are they CAD sculpts? I'd sort of assumed that the vehicles were CAD and the inf were hand, based on the looks.

I am pretty sure that the vehicles are CAD as some initial print runs were at Salute. Not sure about the infantry.

I think they are hand sculpted, they don't have this skinny look which is a good evidence for 3D sculpted small scale infantry. Which is good for me since I sort of dislike skinny infantry.

Thats totally a style thing, CAD modellers could make fat infantry if they wanted to.

They're hand sculpted to my eye. You'd expect straighter and more consistent lines from CAD infantry.

David, the Dropzone creator, states on the info page that the vehicles are digital and the infantry were sculpted the 'old fashioned way'.

Suppose unless the infantry are some type of machine they wouldn't be uniform or have many perfectly smooth edges (other than armor and other inanimate objects).

I would image with the mad skills Mr. Lewis displays with CAD it was an artistic/stylistic decision on his part as the games designer to use traditional sculpture methods. Of course some CAD designers have a more natural sculptural style that is expressive (always looks a little stiff and rigid to me though, even the plastics from the big manufacturers). Perhaps Lewis just enjoyed the artist expression and 'feel' involved in sculpting by hand and of course just enjoys the look and 'feel' such sculpts possess.
