Has anything been done with this as of late? I would be very interested to join the team working on this, if there is one. Also are the rules assumed to be taken from the EPIC:A rulebook, or is there a place where the rules where put into format in line with this game?

thanks,

Perhaps we should start early war formations. I'll do some homework and find out what unit's would be found 1941- early 1942. I'll put two basic armies together no air support yet, maybe 1k points so people can playtest or just have fun with it if they want?

Anyone have any idea's where else we should go with this?

So i'm looking over the German PDF to have a better understanding of how to create a fighting force. I'm a little confused on some of the stuff i'm reading so i'll just cut copy and explain what i'm seeing.

The optional Company structure within a battalion consists of:
3 x Tank Companies each consisting of: 1 x Company HQ tank
3 x Tank Platoons, either PzIV or Panther

This comes out of the PDF, so 3x tank companies, 1 HQ tank and 3x tank platoons. So how many tanks are we talking about here, i'm missing numbers mostly. Am i to read this as the tank company consists of 13 tanks, or 10 tanks? is it HQx1, platoonx3, platoonx3, platoonx3?

Looking at some pictures, i've seen some where theres 16 tanks, 1xHQ, 5xplatoon, 5xplatoon, 5platoon, +4x kubelwagon.

How would a formation like this activate? All at once? or activate as a platoon? What would the HQ tank do? Run solo?

Any thoughts,

Blind-

Okay thats what i thought i just dislike games that represent one tank as 2-5. But hey i can get over it, it's ww2 meets epic!

I'm thinking that if you were to class each stand as a platoon, then the command stands would be out of sync with them, id much prefer a 1:1 approach.

For example:

A German Light Armoured company 1939-40

Platoons
Light panzer Pl - 4-6 Pz1 - OR - 4-6 Pz2B-E
Medium Pz Pl - 4-6 Pz3E-F - OR - 5Pz38(t)

A company would consist of -

HQ - 1 PzIII E-F (HQ tank)
1 x Light Pz Platoon
2 x Medium Pz Platoons

A Panzer Bn would look like this -

1 Pz 1 (HQ)
2 Light Pz companies
1 Heavy Pz Company
1 Pz Recce Platoon
1 Motorcycle Recce Platoon
1 Engineer Platoon
1 Flak Platoon

So loads of vehicles in an Armoured Battalion.

I would suggest something like this:

Core unit - Pz BN
1 Pz 1 (HQ)
2 Light Pz companies
1 Heavy Pz Company
Upgrades OR support choices? - Pz Recce Platoon, Motorcycle Recce Platoon, Engineer Platoon, Flak Platoon

As a collector of micro armour myself i have many forces at one model represents a platoon so a regular german tank battalion would have: 1 x HQ, 3 or 4 x companies each of 3 vehicle models for a total of 1 command stand and 9 to 12 fighting stands. In fact my mid war panzer regiment of three battalions at platoon scale is posted on page one of my thread.

It is possible to field a division with this type of organisation but it is still a lot of models and would take some time to play with. Recently i have started reorganising my collection towards being able to use multiple divisions per side (no actual games yet) with an organisation of 1 stand equals a company which will still give you around 80 to 100 playing pieces per division but it should be easier to have more than one division on a side.

The point i'm trying to get across here is that it really does not matter what you designate each individual model to be, one tank, one platoon, or one company as the organisation will still be similar.

My german platoon scale tank battalion consists of 1 x Battalion HQ and 9 x tanks (Platoons), alternatively i can use the same models to represent a tank regiment which would be 1 x Regimental HQ and 9 x tanks (Companys). Note here the company or battalion HQ's dependent on which level you choose are not represented so you have a straight forward tidy little formation easily playable within the EA rules system.

Even if you want to collect at one one scale you can still play with different level organisations by just leaving those models not required in the box.

Don't know if this helps but hey there you go. :)
