Here are some snap shots a a recent WWI Skirmish game played at my house.

The French did well holding out in one trench and counter attacking another when the game ended.

Of course the Germans had taken our heavy machine gun and were moving to take me out.

So here are pictures.  The minis are a freinmds the terrian is a mix of mine and his.

Lucky for the French the tank turned out to to be a dead hulk.

Our second line trench would be hit the hardest as the Germans infilitrated and stormed it.

The submachinegun at point blank range really hurts  :O

His squad leader went to the assitance of the embattled Poilu.  He beats down one German but the other captures his comrade.  With both victors looking at each other doen the barrel of a rifle, the next action card would determine their fates.

It didn't end well for the Frenchman.

Lovely pics CC, I must admit to enjoying a trench raid or two in my time.
The terrain is great too.  :D

Very nice CC, but you've left us hanging there - did the 75 hit those dice in the end? And which was he aiming at, the white one or the cluster at the rear? Suspense!  ???  ???  :p

Ah.... that's better :)
This reminds me of a good (and cheap ) find at a book fair: a French-English military manual for troops going to France, published in 1917, with a foreword by (US) Major-General Leonard Wood, complete with a map of Le Front Francais and diagrams of the good old 75 and how to harness a horse amongst others; not to mention a colour drawing of les drapeaux and another of pennons. A shop label has this sold from Brentano's, in Paris, whilst an embossed mark advertises Brentano's, New York. It belonged to someone who signed the book 'King'.
The book is intended for officers, as is indicated by the foreword as well as by the text:
"How do the guns obtain the information necessary for the calculation of the firing angle?"
A description of the artillery park begs for reconstruction in model form!

The French '75 was a standard for years, in a number of armies.  It even showed up in WWII !   :D

And the spanish civil war, too :(

Nasty artillery and damned machine guns...  it's their fault that cavalry charges disappeared...

The SCW was a warm up for WWII.  Many of the forces engaged there were to fight later in the WWII ETO.  Even the Spanish Volunteer Blue Div. was on the Eastern Front ... but you know all that YO !  :;):
