We dug in a German Grenadier platoon in the village behind the river and an American Armored Rifle company (full strength) got told to take it.

They got some Shermans and Stuarts to help to.

Here we see 3rd platoon advancing against the village.  Along the side we see the Stuats racing ahead.

The crossroad behind the bridge was a key objective

I guess it wasn't so undefended after all.

3 Pak36's emerge from ambush and hit three of the Stuarts.  The remaining two fly against the bridge followed up by 3rd platoon.  which worms it way to the one peice of cover it can find.

3rd platoon goes through a brutal round of combat.  They get assualted by a small assault platoon which came from offboard to reinforce the defense.  They lead halftrack is blown apart by a huge sachel charge.  But the Germans were reminded that American platoons come big and the they were overwhlemed by the American numbers.

3rd platoon recovers and moves to assault the first objective building.

the fighting 3rd platoon beats the hell out of the German observer team they found in the seond story of the Chatou.

Of course right when they were celebrating their victory the 3rd German Platoon arrives and launches an attack on the building complex.

They beat of the first wave but they can;t sustain their losses for much longer.

The combined firepower of the German 3rd platoon, the heavy machine gunbs, the pak36's is too much to the American troops.  They break and run and the Americans losr the only toe hold they would have across the river.

Also the staurts where finished as well...

The situation in the center hasn't changed much.  The Americans are attempting to weaken the Germans before the assault but they are well dug in.

Also the 2nd American AR platoon is pinned by artilelry across the river.  Not good
