Don't worry about hijacking this thread, my question's been pretty much answered.  I think I'm really leaning towards FoG, and starting with 28mm though I'll probably go smaller later on.  Now to explain to the wife that I'm starting yet another genre of game...

Well I played WAB 1500 Republican vs Gauls. The Gauls all ran away when some charriots lost a combat and broke. Not much rallied in the next turn and they conceed defeat.

Playing Carthanigians on Wednesday, they may hang around a bit longer, plus Elephants look scary!

Dammit. Now look what you made me do... My mouse slipped and I 'accidently' ordered the rule book... and the Roman book... and the Greeks.  ???

Amazon says that they wont arrive until the middle of April, though.

Argh! Amazon have done a... well, they have done 'an Amazon'. I got an email yesterday from them to say that there had been a delay with my order, and it now wont arrive until early March. Of course, they could not have told me this when I placed my order! *sigh*

Damn it. Mine said it would be shipped 15 Feb yesterday... now March.

Order cancelled. Waiting a month for an impulse buy really isn't worth it  :D

Might pick it up at Britcon instead.

If you just get the rulebook then you should get it next week, however the army books are staggered releases so Amazon will ship at the last release date  to save shipping costs, unless you specify separate shipping.  At least I believe that's the case.

Actually, my first order is only for the core rule book - the force books are in a single order with the Greek book, which is due in April as a seperate order.

I guess that either Osprey have delayed the release, or Amazon have over sold their stock or had a delay getting it in themselves.

UPDATE: Today I get an email to say that it is has now been dispatched!  :p

Ah, well It's back on order, but from a seller on play this time. Slighty cheaper for the rules but not army list. Still hope its morale system works better than WAB!

2 games, 2 lost combats and the core of the enemy is running from the mighty romans! Elephants arn't that scarry! One stampeeded off after getting javelined and the other lost in combat and ran of to its home!

Play is actually more expensive than Amazon.co.uk, but only by a couple of pounds. Besides, I have vowed never to buy from Play since a bad experience before Christmas (they are impossible to get hold of if you dont actually want to buy anything, and cancel items without any notification).

Hopefully, my copy will arrive tomorrow... I will let you know about morale.

EDIT: Caliver Books report that it is already sold out at the publishers! This is proving very popular.

My purchase is going through one of their resellars. Rules a little cheaper, army lists more expensive. Worked out around the same. Assuming I actually see the books at some point!

Stupid *!@$ postal system and/or stupid *!@? internal postal system at work. Still nothing arrived for me... maybe today? ?:(

Are you sure that this rules set actually exists... does anyone know someone who has actually seen a copy. Maybe it is just a big conspiracy! ?:;):

Well it does exist! My copy is finally in my hands. The book is smaller than I thought (I was expecting a book around the same size as a GW rule book) but it is very well produced, lots of pictures from the Osprey archives. I will sit down and work my through reading it as soon as I can (loads of work to do right now), but I can answer specific questions if anyone has them.

Does anyone else have their copy yet?

Yep, rule book now has a detachable play sheet! My Roman book is also pretty beat up.

Fotunately the books I got for a fellow gamer are not to bad.

Dogs, got to love em!
