Go go Vanvlak!  :D  It looks a simple and effective colour scheme which should be farily quick to paint - but like you said, there's 300 to do...  :O

At this rate, are you looking at an almost-year-long project?  :confuse:

Heading to the movie today - I CANNOT WAIT!  I took the day off just to see it (it's also my birthday, so it is almost as if it was 'meant to be'). :p

You'll have to give us a review. I've heard it's a good movie despite its historical inaccuracies.

Yes, I liked the H.Chan "300" show, but I usually do ! I'll watch it again !  Xerxes had a (minor) tactical victory because of the high losses he suffered, @ 20,000 KIA/WIA. In 479 BC, at Plataea, the Persians were effectively destroyed.  Van ... you better pick up the pace, Xerxes isn't waiting on you !  Happy B-Day Mos, and yes, let us know about the movie ! :D

Well, it's based on Miller's graphic novel, which is pretty straightforward about saying it's not intended to be historically accurate.

I actually wanted to see the movie very badly until I bought the graphic novel.  It appears to be almost a verbatim recreation of it, even down to blocking the scenes exactly as they are in the panels of the book.  Basically, the graphic novel, just with moving action scenes.  That takes substantial skill to be sure, and may very well deliver a highly entertaining product (especially visually), but it's still less interesting to me at this point than it was before.

Yes, as I said, I read the Miller, G/novel, my friend loaned me ... and, the movie appears to be a "doppelganger" from the book ...  Looks very "entertaining" ...   :)

Yep, it sounds like they basically used the GN as the storyboards for the film. I guess they can save a lot of money in pre-production that way.  :glare:  :O

Having seen the Movie while recovering from getting a badly ingrown toenail dealt with (on IMAX, no less), all I can say is 'wow'.  when you're talking about an event that took place 2500 years ago, you're not going to get real accurate.

They even have you 'suffer' (using the term loosely, because it really helps explain the Spartan mindset) through about 10 minutes of historical background to set the stage for what the Spartans were.  then there's the scene with the Oracle (which is a nice view... [/dirty old man]), and Leonidas getting his head screwed on straight (another nice scene, this time featuring the Spartan Queen [/dirty old man, for real this time]).  Then the rest of the movie is filled with some of the best-choreographed fight scenes I've seen.  Ever.  Including stuff like House of Flying Daggers, Hero, and Curse of the Yellow Flower.  Those guys were fighting back-to back, their shieldwall was real stuff (and actually worked!), and then there's that last scene... to borrow a phrase from a different movie, 'Get some!'

It's not supposed to be historical, it's a better version of the Medal of Honor citations.  It's supposed to send a chill up your spine, stand up, and Salute!  Very well done.  It's a flick you can take your girl to, if she doesn't mind a good bit of blood (lots of eye-candy for her to ogle.  I haven't seen abs like that since the last time the Marines were doing a sit-up competition...) and then there's lots of most righteous 'You shall not pass!' fighting.

Anyway, enough about the movie.

So how does your 300 go, V?  Made any more progress?
