Hi there guys!

After having dropped out on painting my epic marines intended for a tournie coming up at Easter (I'll stick with my guard) I am charging onwards to greener pastures. Having bought the WMA books quite a while ago I leafed through them and got stuck at the French army of the HYW. A quick order at Magister Militum last week and I now have 1000 points of 10mm chivalric glory. Painting is proceeding and I will post pics later in the approriate subforum.

Now, I intend to nag on my friends to get themselves armies for WMM. However I don't want to talk somebody in to getting an army that won't be fun to play. Failing to attract any buddies I'll be getting a second army myself so that I can lend it to people. As such, I have a couple of questions.

1) Does anybody here play the system?
2) Has that anybody happened to play the HYW French-English match-up?
3) Are the English any fun? I'm concerned there might be a lack of variety between games what with forming up a line of longbows and waiting for the enemy to advance seeming to be the tactic of the day.

Edit: Grammar.

I play WMA, but haven't got round to getting WMM yet, so I can't answer any of your questions, I'm afraid.
Have you joined the Warmaster Ancients Yahoo group? Lots of discussion of WMM there, and Rick Priestley often answers questions himself. Well worth joining.
Regards,
Reaver

I haven't joined the Yahoo group. Tried to sign up on yahoo but nothing seemed to work. I might as well try again I suppose. :)

*heavy pout warning*

So I'm not a friend of yours then?
You haven't bugged me!

(And I want to get into Battle of Five Armies BTW.)

English sounds fun... "We happy few..."
...but you got to buy it for me first.
My money is tied up in a rat cage.
The £72 variant I guess is good?

And then we perhaps get us half a BoFA each?

And then maybe I can stop pouting?

Seriously, doesn't this sound as the perfect compadre to Mighty Empires?
Are the new rules on-line somewhere?

I've been on the yahoo groups on occasion... but keep forgetting my password.

I got the WMM because of the siege rules, which look good, and I like some of the refinements re unit type.

Overall, I like WM a good deal, (haven't played WMA, actually, though I just picked up WMAA and WMM).  I'd also like to try out Future War Commander/ BKC.

THe only issue I have with WMA is that the three stand units seem pretty fiddly -- I think the Impetus solution of merging units into one single stand saves a lot of rule verbiage about moving chargers, etc. But I haven't tried that system.
