Just bought myself a box of warlord 28mm Romans, very nice. I have absolutely no idea how Wrhammer Ancients works apart from "its a bit like WFB".

If anyone would share the benefit of their experience I'd be grateful?

Any ideas on how a Roman army list would look?

This forum is probably the best place to ask questions.

At my club, we found that WAB was much better than Fantasy as there was no magic or over powered charaters.

We started off with 15mm but most have now moved onto 28mm.

Hope you enjoy it.

Tim

I agree

That was what attracted me when WAB was first released and the increasing tendancy for WFB power creep with each new aemy book has only confirmed this.

Cheers

The core WHAB book has a fairly extensive set of choices:

Ancient Greek, Achaemenid Persians, Nomadic Hordes, Chinese, Samurai, Arabs & Saracens and Crusaders, plus some appendixes for the original Roman and Barbarian army lists.

I guess finding an opponent would be the next step for for and your local gaming dudes.

Heh, Rome had lots of enemies...so you've got some flex. Maybe not so much if you have to have a 'exact ancient enemy'.

Ancient Romans v. Space Marines might be teh suck.

A V2 of WAB is being talked about in the near future so If you haven't already got it It is probably worth holding on a bit longer. [edit]Looking at the Warhammer Historical site they are aiming for a May release date, but as ever that is just a guess at this stage.

I always find that WAB feels like a big skirmish. I've yet to try FOG but will be in the new year.
