Starfire, where art thou?

Most of my anxiety dreams involve missing final exams or forgetting to do homework. They're typically signals that I have overlooked something at work; when I find that thing, the dreams go away.

And, quite apropos, I did some sculpting last night on my little ships. I felt so inadequate! I'm used to having a fairly good command of my normal hobby things (painting, molding, casting), that it is disturbing to be so clumsy. Gotta stick with it, though.

Finished modelling the bridge portion of the battle carrier. Made good progress on one of the central docking sections.

Imperial Starfire rocks!.. Go! Otterman Go!

Most players I have approached with this game have run away when I show them the rule book/s. Nice to see I am not alone in my love of fine things.

Docking section ready. They have socket / protrusions for chaining several together. I still need to make an extrusion for the actual battlerider mini to plug onto. Then, the engine section.

Edit - Damn, I think the clamps are too long. When I do the battlerider mockup this will become evident.

Todd my man! I am coming pretty late to the party, but let me belatedly say that this is some very cool work that you're doing! Shoot me a line and I'll see if I can't dig up some of the unpublished Hre'Daak and Alkelda material the never got out that door back in the day for you to look at.

Looking forward to seeing more of your castings.

Mark and I have been chatting via email. In the meantime, here's a picture of the engine. It won't be bronzed until mid January.

Lately my own designs have been taking awhile to mold; the little gubbins are awful air bubbles traps. This means I have to spend a lot of time poking silicon into the holes, letting that cure, then do the normal pour.

But it will happen! I've got a big engine-less battle tender that needs a drive module.

It looks better in the flesh. A bit big for a gun barrel... what am I saying!.. it's perfect.  :wow:

When you get a few units battle worthy any chance of a wee battle report on a warp point assault?

First successful resin casting of engine section. Hole too large for connecting peg, needs putty for good join.

Lesson learned: consider using square or hexagonal joining parts for more controlled fitting.

The scout from PrintAPart looks really nice, but it's too large. It strikes me more of a cruiser sized ship, so I'm going to scale it down to about half the volume and stick it in the print queue for the next purchase.

These are impressively nice looking ships O'man. Pity about the troubles but it'll be worth while.

With the Gorgonzola print I got my smaller Vestrii ship. It's sitting in the pile of things that needs molding.
