Hi, i seem to recall that in White Dwarf or possibly a Journal there was talk about using Space Marine and Imperial Guard cards in Chaos forces. I think it might have been that you can use Marine support cards but not company cards as minions for the greater daemons and IG could use anything except that they lost their commissars and the IG were a separate Ally contingent within the army rather than daemon minions. Can any of you clear up if my memory is anywhere close? thanks |

Well I'm not a fan of SM2/TL … but regardless … they had a Chaos Minions card that was IG, "that has gone to the Dark Side" … They were called "Cultists", IIRC … SM2 only SM card had CSMs. SM1 had a much better Chaos SMs and Chaos IG system. Chaos IG were called "Cultists". And IMO could work for SM2, I'd think … |

And IMO could work for SM2, I'd think … Yes that is how they started but there was some sort of update allowing for using all sorts of stuff like titan battle groups, pairs of warhounds etc as minions for Chaos-it made them the most diverse force in the game. It may have been a Q and A feature. I played Imperial at the time and my regular opponent was well pleased with it. |

Again we liked and still use the SM1 system in modified form for almost all our Epic unit organizations.

LOL !!!! No … you can only have one Commissar per Bn … so if I take Yarrick for one I can't take him for the other Bns …  The other Bns can only have the standard commissar …

Ok, i sort of found part of my answer, Titan Legions states Chaos can have up to 50% Guard units but they have to be picked as guard not Daemon minions. I have a letter from GW dated 1st September 1995 that says "A Chaos army may take any type of Imperial Guard Companies but they may not take the free commissars". |
