Hiya all,

What's the best ruleset for 3-5 tank type battles that has a fair bit of chrome (without being silly complex). I've been playing games with Horizon Wars (which I love) but I'd like to scale down a wee bit more and have a bit more depth in unit design and rules - I want it to matter that tank 'x' is equipped with 'x' and has shielding (or whatever).

Could Strike Legion be the way to go? Maybe Dirtside 2? That's a ruleset I don't know that well. Any help appreciated.

1) The Crucible
2) Strike Legion

Just off the top of my head ...

Starmada: AE:

It's a spaceship game but the system is abstract enough to work with tanks. All you would need to do is drop the movement system and use something similar to "each point of engines allows you to move one inch" or something like that.

The full version has complete unit/weapon construction/customization rules, plus tons of play options.

Thanks both - Strike Legion was available for 2.49 so I've downloaded that and I'll see what it's saying.

I've not played it but I've heard of people using Gruntz in 6mm (its usually 15mm) though from what I've seem of the ruleset it may have too much chrome for you.
