Nice miniatures, and nice battleground! I really like the shape of that gothic building :)

That's from the lovely Gergely "Greg" Czuppon at Gregster's Lab: https://www.facebook.com/gregsters6mm/?ref=ts&fref=ts

I don't think the gothic buildings are for sale, yet. But I'm sure he'll be working to release them soon.

Hello, it certainly looks interesting and will likely be added to my April spending budget.

can you please explain a little bit more about the momentum mechanism?

Are the proto-typical xeno-bug/zerg type of aliens a possible faction?

How viable is a force without any mechs when up against a mech-heavy force?

Hi, JJ.

First, there are no "factions" as such. You just map whatever minis you want to use onto the generic types of element and apply special rules to taste. There *are* some plans for more... biological options as a possible expansion. But that's still very much on the drawing board.

A mech-heavy force will tend to have an advantage over a force with no mechs. This is intentional. After all, why would anyone develop something as ludicrous as a mech if it didn't offer a distinct tactical advantage? However, there are some balancing mechanics to make low- or no-mech forces appealing in their own right.

Momentum is a mechanic that only applies if you play Adventures - missions with randomly-generated objectives and situations (although I think these are the most fun way to play, myself).

Normally, each element gets 2 action tokens, basic. But if you use Momentum, your force gets a number of action tokens equal to its force presence - this may end up being slightly more or slightly less than 2 per element. You allocate them to your elements up to a maximum of two each and that represents what they can do this turn. If you have surplus momentum, you apply it as momentum damage: elements of your choice must be given some damage as a result of being pushed beyond their operational limits.

In an Adventure, your various objectives will either give you more Momentum or take away Momentum from your opponent. And, obviously, as elements are destroyed, your opponent loses the amount of Momentum they were giving to the force (between 1 and 3). When one side is reduced to 0 Momentum at the start of a turn, the game is over. The amount of Momentum the opponent has left represents their margin of victory.

Regards,

Robey

I've created a Facebook group specifically for Horizon Wars. Just search "Horizon Wars" on FB. It's an open group, so you can see all the content even if you don't want to join.

As well as answering questions and generally doing the small scale Sci fi thing, I also post links to relevant blog posts and other news they're before it goes anywhere else.

Waiting patiently for this to drop.
I am sure there will be plenty of interest to port 40k stuff over :)
