I played a game of BattleTech: Alpha Strike with some friends last night and wrote up and AAR for my blog. I thought I would share it here for anyone that is interested.

3 lances of mechs per side with skill 2 pilots tried to hold a building on the edge of town. The mercenary force got lucky and did heavy damage to some of the Kurita mechs early in the battle. The Kurita forces weren't able to revocer from the blow and ended up withdrawing from the battle after even more loses.

More pictures and details can be found on my blog. http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2015/02/battletech-alpha-strike-aar-king-of-hill.html

Hi!

Very cool!

Been ages since I've seen Mechs duke it out.

Rastamann,

Alpha strike can easily handle a company vs. a company in 2-3 hours. It of course depends more on the players.

But it is much faster than standard Battletech with still having good flavor.

I agree with Cuban Commissar. Alpha Strike makes BattleTech a playable game for large scale battles.

I haven't tried it, but I'm guessing a lance vs lance battle could be played in about an hour. It would depend on the players and the mechs choosen.

We had 3 lances per side and played this game in about 3 hours with lots of chatting and 2 players that hadn't played before.

Those look like the models from the Introductory/25th Anniversary Battletech boxset.

Good looking game. I want to give it a try.

Most of the models are from the basic box. You can't complain about 26 models for $50. (I bought it a while ago, I think it is $60 now).

I encourage you to give it a try. It is a good game, IMHO.

I have another game planned for tonight. I'll try to post an AAR.
