L4 suggested I ask here after no response on TMP to the same question:

Looking for 6mm figure recommendations to represent the red/black/yellow peoples of Barsoom. I think any of the 10mm orc lines out there will work pretty well for the green Barsoomians, even if they don't have the requisite number of arms.

So, if anyone knows of anything that will work (and doesn't look like little blobs of lead), I'd appreciate some input. Thanks!

Hi,
I have to admit I have never read the John Carter adventures, and am quite unfamiliar with the races - except for the green 4-armed types you mentioned.
Anywhere I can get an idea of how they should look?
There are several ranges of 6-10mm models (the 10mm orcs would work because the greens are giants, right?) out there, but from the very little I know of Barsoom they would have a relatively primitive look, so fantasy might work better - or am I off track?

Mainly human with different skin tones, and they wear no clothing aside from harness and some jewelry; weapons are swords and rifles.

Native American models would probably serve well with some minor conversion, but without traditional head dress or mohawk-type hair styles. Fantasy minis would work for some, but they'd also need compatible rifle-armed figures.

The only native American 6mm I know of is from Irregular, and they have no pictures of these on their site (and, being from Irregular, I'm concerned about the "blob effect"), and I haven't seen any 6mm ranges that will serve well without lots of conversion work.

Black Hat makes an 18mm Barsoom range (Giant Tribal and Imperial Martians) which is pretty good for getting the general visual idea of the setting.

Hmm,
I checked Baccus - how about the Colonial range? You can get Zulus with rifles, perhaps filling in another slot. They also have some tribesmen in the Mahdist range, but none with firearms.
I've purchased 2mm stuff from Irregular and had no blobbiness, but never saw the Native Americans you mentioned, so I cannot vouch for these.

Strangely enough, I have the Baccus Zulus already doing double-duty as themselves and black Barsoomians. Though Baccus are a bit larger than Irregular, I might just have to bite the bullet and order the Irregular NA's blind (I just hate to not see what I'm ordering before doing so).

Not as much as I wish I could, not an easy one this.

Irregular: as I said, the stuff I bought was ok, but have not bought 6mm models from them yet.
Baccus size - yes, they are a bit on the large size.

Would Eldar Aspect Warriors painted in flesh tones work? Their armour is not bulky and could pass for Martian skin. The shuriken guns could pass off as exotic guns, and the helmets could be interpreted as hoods.
