Hi,
Finally uploaded a small number of pages to test style and links on a few other computers. On mine it all works fine, but on one of my friend's comps it looked completely different, and some images didn't load. All of the links should go somewhere btw.
The site can be found here: www.Blastmarker.com
If people could take a look and report any problems and whether the images load, etc; it would be greatly appreciated.
Is the text too small? It seems ok on mine, but on PC it looks a bit small. I might alter it quickly...
Do the images load properly (specifically the BloodBowl page images)?
Cheers, Freshmetal

Hi,
That's what was wrong with it on my friend's PC. I shall have to take a look at the images and see why they aren't working. I shall build an extra test page with different font size and pics today to test alterations. Thanks for response Markconz.
Cheers, Freshmetal

Looks cool - nice to see so many new epic resources poping up!
The image links on your blood bowl page link to images on your hard drive. Thus they show up on your PC & not anyone elses. Its my favourite mistake & I dont really believe I've ever updated my site until I find the image I've done this on....
Having checked the source code of the Blood bowl page, it also appears that the HTML could be cleaned up a quite a lot. For example, it currently sets the font type, size etc for every single line & section of text, rather than just for the whole body text portion. It will make little difference on viewing, but will cut the file sizes slightly & also make for easier updating if you ever update in coding form.

I like the clean simple look, works for me.
Issues
Images
The problem with the Bloobowl page is that the image links are to files on your HDD
and not relative links on the website.
This is why it will work on your Mac but will not work on anyone else's computer.
The problem arises when you start with a new page, but don't save it and then start inserting images, Dreamweaver creates links to the image files on the HDD and not relative links (as the file is not saved).
The solution is to save your file first before you start editing the page or inserting images.
Code
This is a real mess with a huge amount of necessary HTML in your files, including a lot of rollover code which doesn't seem to be used.
As you are using Dreamweaver, read up on Dreamweaver templates, this will make your life easier in the long run.
Secondary Navigation
It's quite difficult to get back (I know you can press the back button) from where you started.
Example
Home ->Epic -> Orks -> Feral Orks -> Feral Ork Diary
If you want to go back to the Ork section you either need to press the back button twice or go Epic -> Orks.
You may want to include some secondary navigation either on the left or across the top.
Index Page
Didn't see the point really....
Why not make the news page the index page?
Typeface
I agree it is a little on the small size.
You may want to use CSS rather than font tags as this will then allow you to make global changes more easily and it helps to reduce the page file size as well.
Overall
A good first effort.
Oh yes, don't use a background image, the site doesn't need it.

LOL, timing I cant comment on - its just freaky. As for thinking the same, I put that down to Jimbo being the source of much of my knowledge - correcting me on these issues many many times in the past (and probably present too...I never really learn...) & giving me the same help when I started up & revised Epic40K.com

I realised that was the problem with the pics, just havn't changed it yet. Thanks for advise anyway, I shall have a tinker with it later to sort things out and shall report back then.

Hi,
Right. Put the site down again (temporarily!). The rollover bits were a result of using Fireworks to build the initial template. I've begun to figure out the Dreamweaver templates (now I see how a few other people have done their sites) and now I am building the template again through DW. I've decided to add secondary navigation buttons and a few other bits, so shall work on that later.
Cheers, Freshmetal

Hi,
Ok, I took another look at it and rebuilt the first selection of pages again in DW. More on it's way.
New build is http://www.blastmarker.com/
Should work better now.
Cheers, Freshmetal

Hi,
Hmm. I took a look at it on a PC and it does look far different to how it does on Mac. Now I see why lots of people have really simple sites.
I shall keep working on things and try to get it working better, but for now I shall just try to get the pages up and running. I can worry about text size and font later.
Thanks for replies all, appreciated.
Cheers, Freshmetal
