Hi guys,
Brief warning to you guys out there, do not use Internetters (http://www.internetters.co.uk). A month ago I noticed that the Epic40k.com domain was due to expire (with no prior warning email I might add), I checked the prices and was kinda astonished to see how much you have to pay for renewal (?42 for two years, Registerfly.com is only $6.99 per year.) I began transfer to Registerfly immediately, however Internetters conveniently didn't receive the fax from Registerfly. I started again, did a new transfer request, this time Internetters just refused to answer Registerflys queries and authorisation requests. With time running out for the domain (normally a transfer takes one working day) I was forced to pay the ?42 to retain the domain or lose it to someone else when it got released to the open market.
I am currently still trying to transfer but Internetters are being not only awkward and difficult but somewhat incompetant too. I have informed them twice in the past that they entered my address wrong on the WHOIS data, they failed to change it, I told the guy who I paid again and hopefully he will do something this time.
Grrrr, fingers crossed with enough shouting we can get this transfer to work.
Tom.

Interesting.
I feel responsible for these problems as I started out with internetters when I started registering URLs. At the time they were one of the cheapest options, but it seems their prices actually increased whilst the market overall got progressively cheaper.
I've certainly never had any problems with them up until now, but the last time I dealt with them was when I transferred epic40k.com to you a year ago.
My http://aofk.co.uk URL was up for renewl at the same time as the Epic40k.com name. I blindly paid the fee a few days ago as I've never looked at prices elsewhere & assumed they were still competative.
I'm probably going to register a new URL for the Mercenary Brush sometime soon & let aofk.co.uk slip in 2 years time. Thanks to you opening my eyes on this matter I wont be registering anything new with InterNetters!
My apologies for getting you in this mess. If i can help out, let me know (aka shoot me your paypal account & I'll cover the cost if you want since its kinda my fault!).

No offence, but I think it teaches everybody to always have an offline copy of the site (or better two) hidden somwhere and well protected.
This way you could just let the domain slip and transfer all the stuff to new site in no time...
Oh, and BTW the free host I'm using has a yearly fee of something like $11 for account upgrade (25 MB space, 7MB/hour bandwidth, like 2GB of monthly bandwidth). Is it worth the money?

No need, personally I think I shall just pay a visit with an axe (Axe of Rip off merchant slaying +3)?
Not your fault that they are incompetant dude .

I have several offline copies from various dates, however, if the domain name isn't renewed we lose the domain name of epic40k.com which for one is good in google searches and for another is well known and everyone would have to update there bookmarks.
Even if we did lose the domain name we wouldn't lose the site, the site still has Netepic.org pointing to it. Which raises an important point. Domain names are just a pointer to the site, lose the domain you don't lose any data, people just can't get to it.

Oooo! Found your quick reply thang and it is very snazzy - double thumbs up!
I know you guys would, but I am loath to add a Paypal donate button as it seems somewhat cheap. I can manage it at the mo, as longs as I can afford the rent and food, I don't care. Gives me an excuse to get the girls to come to mine rather than going out anyway .
