Bye Felicia

Also full financial documents out this week. Big news (not at all unexpected) revenue up from £118M to £158M (£143M constant currency). Could any of that have given Roundtree the political capital to finally 'disappear' Kirby? [shrugs] Investor news scuttlebutt has had that he's been progressively edged out so perhaps.

I would really love to have been a fly on the wall at GW HQ over the last few years. Hard to believe Kirby could exercise such influence in the face of extreme negative PR and falling sales for years on end. It always felt more like the risk adverse behaviour of a over focus-grouped committee than a dictator.

I assume the release schedule of games over the last 2 years shows the collective efforts of the design team over years finally unbottled and published. Interesting to see how long the backlog of ideas lasts...

Hi!

You'd be surprised how long someone like that can last in most corporate structures.

I feel that GW sometimes looks like TSR back in the 90's with a CEO that is basically disdainful for the gaming public and has the attitude "you'll buy this because I'm telling you to".

It should be no surprise that once you ditch that attitude and actually start listening to the consumers again and offering things people actually want that sales go up.

I think their success is partly dependent on how much they can make Kirby a non-factor.

It seems GW soars the farther away they move from him.
