Looks like there's a new Ork Fighta in there.

Wow, so they’re not changing the scale. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Has there been any specific rumor or stalemate made that says they aren’t changing the scale? Those aircraft models are plastic, and the bases look to be a bit bigger than the original AI bases (as far as I can tell, but I never spent much time with those bases, so my perception may be off).

It wouldn’t break my heart if they kept the same scale, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the models are larger than the original FW models.

I’m just glad the game has xenos in it. It gives me hope that they’ll eventually do models for all races, and do models for all the current 40k aircraft (like the dark Eldar ones).

I was just eyeballing them tbh. I didn't realise they're new and plastic. I thought it was more of a re-issue.

Yeah, I guess they'll want to provide as many reasons as possible for people to buy new rather than use their old resin models. One way to do that is change the scale...

...and despite all their protestations of not being interested in doing another version of Epic, doing AI in 8mm scale would "future proof" the new plastic minis.

...just in case.

The new models are 8pm or one third bigger than the old ones.

Given how rag tag and varied ork planes are I'd be perfectly happy to mix the new ork planes with older 4-6mm scale GW and FW ones.

Typical, I finally get around to working on my old recast Thunderbolts and then some shiny plastic ones get previewed. =P

Ha! Yeah I'm way stoked for the orks, which as GlynG correctly notes, have more scale agnostic theme. The bombers are a great item in the potentially new scale as it would make them a properly larger vehicle. Too bad I finally painted a Collosus so stuck a pin in my scale :D

Most prominent would be the expected future presence of DE and CWE flyers and of course Tau for those that do that thing.

Rumor has it that AI will be out (or perhaps available for pre-order) in the 1st or 2nd week of September...

That is a pleasant surprise! Cannot wait to see the size of the final models.

And speaking of pleasant surprises, the scale has been confirmed as 8mm, same as AT.

That's a good thing? It's half expected but seems more of a dick move to change the scale when people have collections of similar looking smaller models.

Personally I'm unsure if I'll stick with my 6mm planes or switch to 8mm for Epic. I haven't painted any of my existing ones but I don't know if they'll release a full range of 8mm aircraft, including say a Manta. I think I'll wait and see.

Going by the TBolt shots around 21:00, and assuming the mat's grid is 1cm major lines, it looks to be 8mm, not 6mm, scale.

Disappointing for me, but maybe the Dakka jets will still be small enough to mix with the FW stuff I have.

Yeah it's been confirmed at 8mm scale for some time after facebook comments by the guy that painted the models for the set.
