Could be!

Shows some minor changes from the original 40k model that I can see.

Alas that's 40k scale.

Alas that's 40k scale.

Interesting. The area behind the cowl looks a bit shorter than the production version to me. That may be an old prototype cast they've cut up, perhaps.

I think that that isn't a preview of a new one like the Thunderhawk but as they say, just "scatter", so I'm guessing it's a bad cast they didn't mind using up. =P

I can see that taking on. Or maybe not. I once saw some sort of space hulk enactment at a convention involving actual people instead of minis. Proper true scale :D

Funny I was going to post that myself. The thread at dakka made me chuckle with them using the 40k models to demo the the rules

That is kind of exciting - imagine having access to the source so that you can just pretty much break up a £200 model just to make terrain...

Just like AT/CT released in '89-'90. We ended up calling AT : "Gunfight at the OK Corral". The Titans would move into range, open fire and blow each other apart. And someone would have a close combat weapon, like a Chain Fist. And try to go into close combat. And die before they get close enough to use it. E.g. "Taking a knife to a gunfight". :o

The tactics became more like a naval battle. Just blasting away with BBs, BCs, CAs ,CLs and DEs. Firing all weapons at the enemy. The only cover was the buildings which in a Naval engagement would be like islands. To use as cover to maneuver around to flank the enemy. It was fun, a die rolling marathon. And it almost a "sophisticated" "Beer & Pretzel" game. Not too complex, but very playable. We rapidly got a little bored ... We were use to a little more complex games of tactics and maneuver. :nooo ^-^

Hi!

Yea, AT with just titans was a fun game, for a little while. It got stale quickly.

I want the "full monty". Titans, vehicles and infantry. Only that keeps my interest.

Yep ! We liked Infantry, Tanks, FA, CAS, Gunships with Titans in Support. Or even not at all. Like I said we began to see Titans like Naval vessels. BBs, BC, etc., are far less numerous than standard ground forces. One of the neat parts of AT was with the release of CT. You could design your own Titans. And I never put any "Stink'n" close combat weapons on mine ! :gah ;D

I've always liked the 'look' of the close combat weapons, especially the giant chainsaw blades - but yeah, never expected them to see much use!

Yeah ... modern combat vessels don't have rams on their bows like some Ancient naval vessels did ... :D

I think you are mistaking 40k having anything to do with modern combat. :-)

Anyway feedback from Tom below. Nothing particularly new, but some confirmations. No definite news on scale except "bigger than a dreadnaught" - we assume thats a contemptor.

Unfortunately the lure of beer was too strong and Tom didn't get a spot in the play test demo. :-(

Right then, here is what I learned from this morning's seminar on Adeptus Titanicus:

Andy Hoare is the lead designer.

Still a WIP with not all of the rules nailed down so no release date as yet and not sure whether it'll be plastic or resin. Probably a mix.

Game built around 5 units or so per side with a standard 4x4 area but lots of campaign missions are 6x4. Play testing games of 5v5 were about 2hrs long.

Turn sequence based on the original AT scheme of 'I go you go, next phase':
Initiative
Move
Repair
Shoot
Combat

Core rule book has 3 ways of play: open, matched and narrative (battles from HH series)

Uses some custom dice - e.g. reactor dice for over loading weapons etc.

Status cards are used for unit stats, locational damage and critical damage effects. App support for this may come if it proves popular enough. Command terminal cards with pegs to keep track of things will be used - sounded a bit like Armada.

Models are much bigger than the old scale AT - no specifics shared but a Warlord will be noticeably bigger than a Space Marine Dreadnaught. All the current titans and knights FW make will appear in AT. Knights will be the smallest unit. Decals and banners will be available.

Knights are basically disposable pawns but can cause a fair bit of damage in groups (known as knight banners).

Titans will come with weapon options with pre cut holes for magnetisation but no magnets for legal reasons.

Some of the old legios are going to be coming back. Focus on the battle on Beta Garmin(?) (Known as the 'Titan death' because of the carnage amongst the Titan legions). Lots of background on Legio Crytos (from the Tallarn books) linked to the Iron Warriors. Legio specific warlord traits appear granting army wide buffs to give the legios different flavours

No definite plans to do orks/eldar etc but will do terrain and objective pieces. This is most definitely NOT a prelude to a revamped Epic.

****

There are also new images about (BOLS etc) including draft titan data sheets.
