Really enjoyed the write up about Adepticus Titanicus. Didn't read much else to be honest, as that was all I was interested in.

@schoon, doing a reddit AMA(ask me anything) is a popular thing for celebs of various sizes to do lately. It's basically an opportunity for people to ask you all kinds of questions, rather than the standard interview questions.

The unusual format can lead to weird stuff, but it can also lead to unedited write ups like that one about AT, which was worth the read.

GW are over extended with Blood Bowl and Necromunda releases.
Wont hold my breath for the arrival of AT.

aye coupled with their manufacturing capacity issues (extensively documented elsewhere) will exasperate the issues

Hi!

I really wish they'd stuck with their original "rules only" idea.

All I want is a look see at the rules.

I'm not interested in the 8mm models. There are enough 6mm options out there anyways.

That AMA made it clear again that GW is not interested in rules only.

Hi!

I know, but that is why everything is so delayed.

Given all the other releases this will get pushed back more and more before resources can be dedicated to it.

Oh well, there are other things to entertain me in the meantime. :)

It is frustrating, but the good news is that it seems the success of the “specialist games” has been significant (profit wise) and proved the bean counting nay-sayers in management wrong. Therefore the designers have been given the go ahead to go back to a more 90s style if structure where there is a more diverse portfolio of games properly resourced.

Bodes well for the future (though maybe not for the smaller players in the industry...)

Presumably (as was floating around a while ago) the Specialist Games department will get more support if they get a strong customer base. It is a risky loss-leader (both in terms of money and juggling multiple rulesets), but GW has been generally impressing me more and more recently with their approach to things, so I think the goodwill is somewhat being rebuilt. And Forgeworld and Specialst Games are the tip of that iceberg already.

I think perhaps if people sent in suggestions about getting certain lines finished to workable states before new ones are started, they might just listen now. AT (as interesting as it looks) could easily wait a few years without losing demand, assuming nothing major changes (e.g. real life titans are created :p), but a lack of BB teams really hampers the game. At least Necromunda is fairly workable with what they've put out (and has a healthy community interested in rules-smithying).

Who knows, though, maybe they'll release some beta-rules in the future? Doing a Reddit thread is already so out of character for GW's past decade—maybe they'll experiment with different rules release mechanisms? Of course, in the olden days, one just had to put up with no Space Elves (for example) for months and months on end, so perhaps we're a bit spoilt by the modern age of planned product timelines? :P

The Reddit thread was made by the game designer who does not work for GW anymore. So it's nothing officially from GW.

I agree to some extend. Though its not unusual that stuff is hold back years.

Necomunda can still tnk somehow and than the whoel thing will be dead again (specialist games that is.)
