Oo, actual AT news! :D

From the discussions at Yaktribe, I gather the main impression is that the new Necromunda rules weren't really written to be split up like this: it's more like the ruleset has been hacked up into sections to make different books and thus edited poorly. Alas, I suspect that the rules designers had little choice in the matter with the pressures of deadlines and marketing. It seems like they would have done better to make the box more stand-alone with the pre-built teams and then put all the campaign material into the first Gang War book (which could possibly have been the only one, with extra material released in cheaper avenues...).

In a way, I think many people are annoyed because the Gang War books seem more like 'buy a whole new rulebook' than 'the next installment of a series'. I do agree that it would have been good to get more factions out on launch, but it is understandable that the rules-model duality of GW encourages rule releases only when models are out—if they had managed the split between Gang Wars and the box set book better, they could easily have had two cults in the first Gang Wars with existing miniatures.

What does all this have to do with titans, one may ask? :P We're fortunate that titans have fewer factions, and we're used to identical titans shooting each other up, so most of these problems go away! :D

I'm personally just hoping for some lovely new Titan miniatures for use with Epic. As a secondary concern, I'm hoping that they don't look too amazing or are scaled too big compared to previous ranges, so as to make the rest of my Titan collection look rubbish or not scale with them! :)

The rules are kind of a secondary concern, as I think most will go back to playing Epic in one form or another before too long.

I guess the idea with the new AT is to get some of the youth/new players into the game with the idea of giant titans knocking 4 shades out of each other. We can then hopefully convert some of them to Epic....

Games with so few models per side also have the promise of being tactically deep but also very manageable for those without much time (or perhaps money).

I think Primarch might disagree about the rules being of little importance (and I'm interested in them too) :P I actually think the biggest audience will be non-Epic players—and it'll be a way to get some Epic-scale action if you have no Epic scene. I imagine that some enterprising people will combine the titan rules with Epic rules at some point (maybe à la Epic40K?).

Plastic models sound very nice, but one could always use one's existing titans to play the game, too.

Hi!

You'd be correct. The rules at this point hold some mild interest (wanning by the day, since I am involved in my own rule set project), but I have no interest in 8mm true scale models that towers overr even the 6mm truescale ones.

Besides its not like those designs won't "show up" in proper 6mm truescale anyway.

I think your right that this will appeal to "non-epic playres". How many of those you can convert to "actual" epic remains to be seen.

My thoughts exactly, i have always felt the titans were a bit too small when the Fluff is considered, 8mm Titans in 6mm games will rock imo!

I am excited for the game, but primarily for newly designed (plastic!) titans.

This reminds me. Do we know that it will be 8mm scale? Or is there some info that space marines will be 8mm tall? which is a difference I think.

Its rumours/nearly fact, it was mentioned in a Q&A also, they would be bigger than the prrevious 'more towards 8mm'

I think if the rumour heard about the game being a skirmish format (titans against each other, with them having different and individual character cards) then it makes the prospect of this matching Epic armageddon quite unlikely and I would be surprised if it goes beyond the titan miniatures. Which I guess could be a good or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.

Like a Bigfoot, Little Greys or Nessie sightings. Little bits & pieces of information and rumors infrequently somehow makes itself known. But like Bigfoot, Little Greys or Nessie ... until you have a body in hand ... it's all rumor and conjecture, etc. :eh :{[] :nooo :'( ... :D ;D

And it's been that way since I got involved with GW in '89 ... :( :-[
