Thats really nice. I could do with a couple of those, would go especially well with my home brew skaven terrain.

Is the writing above the door freehanded or is that engraved?

And I take it the base plate is not included?

Hi RexHavoc,

The base isn't included but we sell 4 bases (2 of these large and 2 smaller) for £8.

The writing above the door is engraved. If you would like one without it I can make one to special order without it.

So having followed Stroezies excellent scratch build of a 6mm space hulk set here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=31193

I got to wondering if we could make an interlocking spacecraft corridor set in 6mm our of plastic. I asked Stroezie if he minded us giving it a go and here are the first prototype corridors and walls. Next will be a room prototype, then on to doors (which I intend to make open :) and some blips and objectives.

The corridors, with the walls in place are 1.6cm wide. The walls are 6mm high.

These are just the prototype pics and not painted up, just with some light gray to bring out the details.

In case you are wondering the grill in the corridor floor is actually a grill, not painted on, so yes there is 3D in the corridor floor and walls.

I have some Prowlers (Genestealers) and Novan (Terminators) on order so as soon as they arrive I can take some better scale shots.

Thoughts? Would people be interest in buying pocket/travel space corridors? Would really appreciate feedback as to whether people would be interested....

I could probably be persuaded if the price was right...

those look good but for game use the movement squares on the floor need to be much clearer, especially on the join
(although i suppose people could just paint them different colours … still, two line thicknesses, one to mark movement squares and a thinner one for detail would help)

Thanks for the initial feedback. Price is TBD, I need to design the major pieces first then work out the material cost and wear & tear on the machine etc...I hope to keep an entire set <£20 (and intend for there to be a lot in the set)....but it all depends on the costs.

On the movement square clarity; with these being the prototypes I threw a load of ideas on to the floor tiles. Production pieces would not have all of those on the same corridor pieces. My intention would be to have those sorts of detailed tiles being 1 or 2 to a corridor and not next to each other. I'll give the double width cut some thought too.

On the joins: yeah I wasn't really happy with that design either. It was an effort to try and hide the join. What are peoples thoughts? Just have the join visible?

Heh heh, cool! Thanks for the shoutout.

Like what I see so far, the details look good and will only look better once painted imo.
If it were me I'd make the joins extra obvious, it makes sense for space ships to br modular and for there to be some kind of universal coupler, that way you can hide them in plain sight 8)

As to the price point, if you could pull that of, even I would be interested ;)

Just a thought, people might be more be more inclined to buy if they could order the minis needed in one ready made pack, either on your own site or somewhere like Vanguard or Onslaught miniatures.

I'll be following further development with interest.
Cheers,
Stroezie.

Nice corridor, but I'd go for something slightly more 'three dimensional', akin to this.

You realise the corridor is in 6mm scale right? The link you posted is to a 28mm scale product.

I would love to put that level of detail/3D in to it....but as the plastic is 3mm thick if i put 2 layers to even create slight 3D on the walls it protrude half the height of a full grown man (or about 3ft in real scale - that would make the walls 6ft thick!).

Also if i scale down those girders, which look to be about 3mm wide in that 28mm scale...then they would be 0.35mm thick....that's about 4 human hairs.

I am considering (in the future) a 28mm scale corridor/room set - then you are right on....that's exactly the sort of thing I would be aiming at.

But thanks for the feedback though :)

Phew, ok August was a busy month - not least due to my wife giving birth! So HBW team is +1 but it did impact on my ability to progress some other projects!

I have managed to do a little work on the 6mm ship corridors, moving to a more production grade (the floor tiles are much less cluttered).

The end pieces shows one airlock (the final set will have 4 of these), the others are dead ends (again there will be 4, each different). The total pieces in these pics represent about 1/5th of what will be in the final set (and there are a lot more rooms in the other 4/5ths).

The pic of the room by itself is with a UK 10p for scale.

Feedback and comments are really welcome.

How cool is that?
If you keep this up you're going to make me regret building my own set ;D

I really like those end pieces and the little details on the walls.
Are the doors going to be like the airlocks or a different design?

If you hadnt inspired me Stoezie they wouldnt exist! :)

The doors will be similar, but the airlocks dont open whereas I still intend the internal doors will.
