A little something for your Mayhem army construction needs. ;) Armies of Mayhem now available as 'pay what you want' on Wargame Vault.

I tried to download it to my Android phone and Windows Surface. In both cases I got a message saying I could not use this APP. Don't know why it went that way. Any ideas? :{[]

Are you talking about the BattleScribe program itself? I only ask because I had a guy earlier today trying to open the data files [.bsr format] themselves without the program, and he was getting a similar error.

If you don't have the Android version of the BattleScribe program, you can download it from Google Play.

Now, assuming you do have the program, there's an Android help guide here with a possible fix at the bottom of the page. You also want to make sure that you have Java fully updated to the latest version.

Let me know if this helps! ;D

Okay, I got battle scribe to download on my phone, but couldn't get the files to. I, however, did get the whole deal onto my desktop computer and it works fine. I'll be playing around with it for a bit to see what I can come up with. I just finished painting my Dwarf and Orc armies from Microworld too, the timing is great on this release. Now I just need an opponent...

Glad you got it up and running on your computer!

If you log into your Wargame Vault account with your Andriod phone, you should be able to download the files to it directly and access them without any trouble.

Now, let's see about getting you an opponent... :D

Right, chucked some money at you and got it set up both on my desktop MAC and iPhone. Navigates fine and easy and already a joy!

But do i see it right that you can't create your own unit profiles?
Would that be down to limitations of Battlescribe?

Many thanks in advance :)

Well, I always enjoy having money thrown at me! Glad you're enjoying the builder.

You're correct, and it is due to the inherent design of BattleScribe. I'm trying to look at some creative ways to make it work while still providing a build experience and file output that remain useful and intuitive. The output is the real challenge since BattleScribe works on the assumption that you already have a profile to modify. I'm still looking at it. :)

Hi,

I have also donated to the cause! having real problems with it though. I have downloaded Java. Downloaded battlescribe. I have got the mayhem files, there are 3 folders...?

Which one do I use?
When I try to download them off wargame vault my computer asks what program to save them to...ie word, excel etc etc...?

Im confused.

Once they are finally downloaded to my computer, then what?

Its driving me nuts....thats probably why ive stuck with a pen and paper and a calculator for all these years ;D

Steve

Don't worry Steve, we'll get you up and running! ;D

There are 3 files in total that you download from Wargame Vault. One of those is a simple one page PDF that talks about the contents of the files and how the lists are structured. The other two are something called .bsr files. They are:

1. mayhembattlechest.bsr
2. mayhemarmiesofmayhem.bsr

You simply want to download these files from Wargame Vault. You don't want to 'save as' any other type of file. Also, you may want to just download them to your desktop so that it'll be easy to find them for import [more in a moment]. These are data repository files that will help ensure that future updates will install easily and make sure that everything goes to the right place. ;) Once you have the files downloaded, you're ready to import them.

To import your Armies of Mayhem files in to BattleScribe:
1. Open the Roster Editor
2. Click on the ‘Manage Data’ button
3. Click on the ‘Import Data From File…’ button
4. Find each of the .bsr files and select them [one at a time] and click ‘Open’

You will want to import both data files. After that, you're ready to start creating your armies!

To build your army:
1. Open the Roster Editor
2. select New Roster
3. choose Mayhem: Battle Chest or Mayhem: Armies of Mayhem as your game system
4. select Add Roster
5. select a Force Type

The Mayhem: Battle Chest game system data file is a single large army list that will let you create an army that follows all the force construction rules found in the book. Since it's a single list, you can create all manner of combined forces.

The Mayhem: Armies of Mayhem game system data file contains armies that feature unique units and army specific rules.

Let me know if this gets you sorted! ;D
