Firstly, thanks to everyone for their patience and support over the last week. It has been a lot of work - most of it made worse by the fact that only I can see the changes behind the curtain - but I think that the downtime and upgrade was vital for these boards, and the site in general, going forwards.
Firstly, the current state of play. I have opened these boards as they are 'done'. This doesn't mean perfect, but they are in a state that they are essentially complete and ready for public use. The SG forums will be back again very shortly (over the weekend, I hope) and the main site will be made available early next week - this will take a little longer time as there are simply more settings and things to sort out.
So, what has happened while you were away? In short, a lot. With the entire site in general, we have now moved to a brand new host, and a brand new package. While we were before on a standard shared package, we are now on a 'virtual private' package. What this essentially means is that we have a chunk of resources that is for our exclusive use, and is not shared with other sites on the same machine. One of the reasons that we had errors in the past was that the growth of the site and forum meant that we were requiring more and more resources, and the shared package wasn't delivering. It's not the worst problem to have, but it is frustrating. I am hoping that the current setup is now going to see us for a long time into the future.
For these boards, the obvious change are the colours. I felt that a fresh coat of paint was appropriate and needed. This theme is more in line with the eventual colours of the core site, and will help to bind the various parts together better. And, yes, I know, there are some people who either don't like dark themes, or who are more likely to get caught at work reading a web page that isn't 'corporate'.
Apologies, but this is the way it is for now.As a result of the re-deco, a few of the regular buttons and links may have relocated. They are still there, so you may just need to hunt them down the first couple of times.
In addition, both the Wiki and the archive site (with Warp Rift and the GothiComp/EpicComp galleries) are currently not available. These are safe and backed up, and I do intend to open them up again, but they will be relocated and there will be a short delay in getting this online (although Warp Rift is a priority).
As far as I am aware, everything here should be set up and functioning normally. There is one exception to this:
- The member list still doesn't display by initial letter, as the drop down alphabet selector is empty. I am aware of this and working on it.
However, if you do notice anything that is not working or missing, please let me know as a reply to this thread, and I will do what I can do sort it out.

) to get the correct time for posts. It should be -5 for me. Are the boards getting the time from the servers and assuming it's UTC when it's already been adjusted?
