What materials do you have? What tools are you going to use?

I have two sizes of cork tiles (1 foot square and about 1/2 foot square) lots of various shapes, sizes and thicknesses of polystyrene, Filler (though not a very good type) lots of types of flock, A little plastacine and greenstuff and lots of cardboard.
I have the tools needed (hot wire cutter etc) although I could do with a glue stick gun.
My biggest problem is always inspiration, and where to start.

Ah, so you're good to go. I hate glue guns. I have one but, I refuse to use it. I use the force when making terrain. I just start cutting and chopping and the idea pops into my brainpan as soon as I notice something. It could be a little thing. But, it is usually enough to inspire me.

Funnily enough, making terrain is the only part of the hobby my girlfriend is prepared to help with.
I have resisted buying a glue gun, since I dont see myself using it that often. If I do buy one, I'm going to get it through my works account (I'm a purchaser, so it isn't too much of a problem) Its where I got a lot of my tools for using on my motorbike
I started making a swamp, and was making good progress on it. I let all the plaster dry on the cork tile over night. Next day I picked it up, and the weight bent the cork tile, cracking all the plaster, which then fell off.
I have now learnt that the cork tiles aren't strong enough for that type of thing, and need reinforcing with cardboard or something.

Ohh, that had to hurt. I don't use plaster. Too heavy. There are light weight plasters for model trains that might work. You may also want to switch to a press-board tile or even a hard plastic for basing terrain. Your old lady helps you make terrain? That is pretty decent of her. My wife would be, like, "f-you, I'm not doing that s**t" That was a direct quote. Ah, to be in love.

She did art at school, so she doesn't mind that aspect of things. She even (once) painted a termagaunt.
Yep, I was pretty annoyed at the swamp thing. I threw it all in the bin in a huff. Still, you learn by your mistakes (that goes for games too )
I wanted cork tiles, since you can push in things like trees etc. I just need to reinforce the base. Plastic card maybe.

He he. I know what you mean. Every day I ask her to game with me, but she wont. And with our new house, she wont do any terrain either as she's busy doing DIY. Still, it gets me out of it.

Yeah, you know. I have still to meet an epic girl. I have never seen or even read about one. I have seen girls on other games but not epic. Does anyone know any epic girls?
