Sorry if this has been done before, however been thinking (scary in its own context), Imperial Navy Allies; Could a Vigilant (EW/Recon) be factored in as an additional plane for TB/Marauders at cost to give them a hit modifier?

So an additional Vigilant - 1 Vigilant can fly with multiple TB flights

TB Sqn + Vigilant = 200 points; -1 to hit & IC however TBs retain their FB turning whereas Vigilant stays on table (assumed it is high enough to carryout recon and not get hit, however can be attacked by air intercept)

Marauder + Vigilant = 300 points -1 to hit & IC

Colossus (cannot take Vigilant upgrade)

Upgrade x1 Marauder to Colossus 275 Points MW2+ TK IC Slow.

just so I can follow this correctly, you're basically headspacing about how to make an EA inclusion of that really cool FW Vigilant model in the rules. Your idea is that they give the accompanying formation ( s? ) a hit modifier representing their ECW features?

yarp - reason being is that the ECW/eye in the sky would be able to designate targets with pin point precision. IC due to its ability to analyse a unit in covers dispersal, IOT maximise approach speed, release point & yield to full effect

I'm going to convert my Vigilant to a Spector, similar to an AC-130. It is very much very much a WIP/" still on the drawing board" ... at this point ... :D

IIRC, NetEpic had stats for that ... :sos

More thoughts on the Marauder Variants -

Vigilant - Which ever formation it flies with, its extensive ECM pack gives a +1 modifier on all AA attacks ( creates multiple ghost radar images etc)

Colossis - on its bombing run moves as a bomber, post release however its able to move as a fighter/bomber (rationale being its shedded half its weight) so is able to Jink

Colossus - if its destroyed with its ordnance (ie bomb underslung still) then ALL fliers with 20cm automatically take a hit (10000kg bomb, shreds the colossus into a massive flak/debris field)

The Colossus is already in the Cadian list so reinventing it probably isn't a good idea. I like the concepts for the Vigilant. Too bad I don't have one myself but to be truthful, it should have had a dish on top

TKS Shipwrights has the AWACS version with a dish

The Elysians variants differ to the Steel Legion and Imperial Navy Allies as in WE 2 DC and different weapon loadouts.

This then leads on could the Destroyer variant be brought in? Weapon loadout akin to the Elysian one but not a WE and a cost difference, more inline with the Marauder Bomber?

Been years since I've played that Elysian list but IIRC they used the DKoK base stats with the heavy bomber silliness.

Note: we also have the Destroyers in the Tallarn concept list from Apocalypse and I. Just to add to the mess

Inspired by other great painters like yourself, Largo etc etc. In relation to 'Lets make epic great again' thread, perhaps I'll just work on stats etc for the IN.
