So I have 6 mole mortars from the 90s painted for my Space Marines. Why don't any of the tournament lists have them... Haven't looked at any of the development lists so don't know if one of them does. |

It's because Mole Mortars haven't appeared in the 40k space marine army lists for 6-7 editions or so. They are in the Epic Squats list still. Or just use the 'counts as' rule - tell your opponent they count as a Devestator stand. |

Never played 40k so didn't realize it was removed from the SM Armory No biggie, it's only 6 stands after all. |

Heresy as far as I'm concerned ! IMO the SM and/or IG & Squats should have those lighter weapons like Mortars, Thud Guns, etc. |

Hi! The reason for these "discrepancies", is that epic started out as "heresy era", then slowly went into 40k, without much of a cutoff. That why you see early epic and 40k lists with a lot of equipment deemed "30k" now. Given how tech works in the 40k universe, stuff gets used until it can't be fixed. So while thud guns and such got "phased out" over the millennia, there is not reason why some chapters cant still have some functional ones. Primarch |

Thud guns are in 40k. They just got a new name. Pretty sure mole mortar got retcon'd out of existence however. Also remember that thud and mole mortar come from 40k to epic, not the other way around so heresy or not doesn't really matter in this discussion. |

Mole mortars were developed by squats and sold to the imperium. With the squats being eaten by the nids they used that to explain why you don't see them anymore. Kreig use a similar weapon called a mole launcher, which is basically a shoulder mounted missile launcher which they point at the ground to use. In the current rules, the thudd gun and mole mortar have sort of been melded into the Thunderfire Cannon. |

The Mole Mortars, Tarantulas, Rapiers, Thud Guns, Robots, and Dreadnaughts were in 40K when I first got involved with GW in '90. Then when Epic SM1 came out they were there as well, for obvious reasons. So regardless I'm keeping them in my SM, Traitor SM, CSM, Cultist, Squat and IG armories ...

I've always used any mortars as real world mortars ... again I'm very old school. I've since gone back add a little flock, details & decals ...

There were definitely marine mole mortars in early Epic - there was a battle report (think Marines vs Orks) where some of the stands of marine artillery were equipped with them. |

Pretty sure there are Mole Mortars in the French Squats list. Have been working on a translation, but the Land Train was a bit weird so I stopped. Perhaps should give it a go again. |

I can imagine there is a lot of potential for problems when translating the word 'squat', to any language |
