Hi all,

Anyone got a nice Tau army list for 3k game. im looking to start getting some figs from vanguard but need to know what im looking at purchasing so im not just buying stuff for the sake of it lol.

Also, do Tau have the equivalent of titans?

Look at the options and determine how you want the Tau to play. High activation and marker lights make them easier. They have no titans.

Personally I think lots of markerlights is important, don't skimp on the recons. Tau can be vulnerable to assaults so skyrays also good for both markerilghts and air cover. Fire warriors are solid choices. Different groups have been divided on hammerheads, some spam them, others think they arent worth the points, though they were made a bit better with Lance. The ionhead is sadly clearly worse. I like broadsides a lot. Sadly crisis are generally only included for the supreme commander too.

A tricky thing with Tau is balancing AP and AT and having it in the right place, as the units tend to be specialised. I probably ought not dish out too much advice as I don't play Tau particularly competitively - I love using the funky special rules like guided missiles, which distracts me from actually gaining victory conditions

I sat back and creeped eBay and the epic forums. The army came up for sale. The add ons came from spares floating in the community. I got 2 Ocras and some kroot at AdeptiCon. 7 Hammerheads came from cold wars.

The real stuff is fragile. All I do is fix shit the day after a game. Metal recasts are OOP, but pop up time to time.

Also take a look at Onslaught miniatures, or Vanguard if the UK is closer. They have an extensive proxy line that has great models.

I like six strong crisis formations deployed out of an orca. When they get w/in 15cm, the shooting out put they have is just silly. It is a little risky with the orca, but if they land, their jump packs can usually get them to a safer position after firing.

Skyrays are also incredible. Marker light + some of the highest range AA in the game.
