I meant to reply slightly further to suggest a couple of things too.

The Minigeddon variant is a good way to introduce yourself and others to the rules - it's a smaller sized game (1/3 of the points of the standard game size), on a smaller table, with less objectives and more restricted selection choices. https://sites.google.com/site/epicarmag ... minigeddon

Also when learning the game Orks vs Imperial Guard are probably the most recommended. Space Marines are a powerful army, but with a but more fiddly special rules and that require more skill to use well (unlike in 40k where they are the go to army for beginners).

basically it doesn't matter. as you stated that you have amassed lots of miniatures over the years you can most probably go with any list you like without being short of sth. the rules are no problem as stated out being consistent worldwide with somethimes differet interpretation only but that will have no effect to the point of: "oh no! I follow that list and now I can't play with them as the rules do not match". there is no such thing and you can play any rules or list if you have big stock of minis. so you can adjust to the local scene wherever you end up moving to.

Here in PA, we use the NetEA rulebook on the main site. Last updated 3/21/17

Group of about 6 of us or so.

Army lists seem to vary. Every few months ill go through and switch out the old with the newest list on the site here to keep up to date.
