I did try searching first, but apparently all the search terms were too common...
Am I right in thinking that there are no specific rules for buildings in EA beyond them being area terrain that you can see 10cm into and that are impassible to vehicles?
How do people generally play this, an area of card to mark the boundary and abstract it totally, count each building as a separate piece of area terrain? I've got a ton of the old SM1 and SM2 plastic-roof buildings and a few of the Titan Legions Orky buildings and neither of those solutions really appeals.

I've seen both ways played - multiple buildings on a grey base and the whole thing counting as area terrain or each building individually being seperate. Either way to play it is fine.
You don't need to be fully within area terrain to get the save, any part counts. People play terrain slightly different ways, but many people play it that if an infantry stand just touches a building they count as being in it and get a save - in reality we'd assume they'd be hugging the wall or inside but this keeps it simple and easy and avoids having to balance models half on buildings and not all epic scenery has flat rooves to place models anyway e.g. the Forge World Censorium building.

Ta.
So if treating each building as a separate piece, all infantry touching or in would get cover saves and the -1 to be hit, and could see/be seen if LoF passes through less than 10cm of the building?
While vehicles tucked in behind the buildings would need LoF around the edge to see/be seen and would get -1 to be hit for 'The to hit modifier also applies if intervening terrain obscures the target partially from view.'? Obviously no cover saves as that's specific to infantry and buildings are also impassible to vehicles.

That is how we play it, with each building being a seperate piece. Forrests are area terrain.
