Not sure if anyone else has this issue but every PDF I download from the TP site needs to be repaired by my PDF reader

I don't believe I'm going to be able to emulate that. Does it give you anymore info about it somewhere?

Yes, GoodReader complains that the PDFs need repairing, but I've not seen any issues if you click 'cancel' and use the PDF as-is.

Sounds like the app has an issue, not the PDF. Tried a few readers on a few os and everything reports fine (heck even Edge handles it [shudders])

No issues between Kindle readers or Chrome either.

I'd like to update the TP system this year. I'm using Jekyll to generate the PDFs from the HTML, maybe updating to a newer version will fix the problem. I'll do a library version bump before I get to really updating it. However, I'm not sure when I'll get to it as my free coding time is also taken up by the WM Army Selector.

Sadly no. I looked for some log files but couldn’t find any. If it isn’t an issue anywhere else I’d ignore it

Just FYI, some of you may know the NetEA site was hacked; I believe this is now fixed but if anyone continues to spot any odd behaviour please shout.

The site is very much showing its age now, without wishing to speak for the ERC I suggest we ought to simplifiy it into something that requires zero maintenance, maybe just a github.io site.

I can convert it to a jekyll site like the TP.

Really. Why would anyone hack the site. Must lead a boring life if that's how you get your thrills..

Own a site, link to your site, improve your search rankings, get more clicks on your viagra adds, profit.

It's most likely an advertising firm. Hacks are generally not people doing it for thrills. There is a whole area of the internet that is dedicated to people selling their hacking skills to firms that want redirects. They inject the code to what ever sites they can and then iffy firms pay good money for their site to pop up, different levels of cost to how many times the site can be visited and redirected (say 1 in 50 is the cheap option and 1 in 10 is the most expensive, the more redirects the more likely the hack is discovered and removed)

They target sites like NetEA as they are well established sites that have regular traffic but has low end security. Sites like this could sit vacant for years with out being updated (Go take a look at some of the early Epic sites from the late 90s/early 2000s. Some of them are still hosted yet not had updates in 8 years or more) and also fans sites don't tend to have tons of money kicking around to fight issues.

Same reason warseer is regularly attacked. Not only did it have a steady user base, it is heavily linked back too all over the net, but not important enough to be on the high end of security.

People generally blame it on someone getting their kicks through disrupting 'the system', mostly due to media's portrayal. But mostly its shady companies hiring someone in need of some extra cash.
A high percentage of these attacks do stem from 'microsoft windows alerts'- Basically scam artists that use very basic tech skills to lure in the vulnerable, much like cold callers.

Almost all these 'hacks' can be found online and deployed by anyone with a login to a computer.

Dave said it simplest. Profit.

As far as I can tell the attack vector was actually some software that was inserted by the hosting company in some sort of test directory, but can't be sure. As a CMS there will have been periods where an unpatched exploit was available too.

Your call Dave. Least work option is just to literally archive it as static content and forget any sort of content editing. Doesn't help make it any more usable on phone screens though, and making it consistent with the TP is worth something too.
