I remember that game, they took all day to play it and pretty much nothing happened.

Because even though GW charges outragoue prices for epic stuff they still make way more money if someone buys 6 rhinos at 30 dollars a piece to 6 for 25 in epic scale. That game is using stuff made by GW for the Apoc rulebook so it is there to look cool. Space marine battle company is like 730 dollars now retail (7 tac boxes, 2 dev boxes, 4 assault boxes, command squad, captain, 6 rhinos, 1 razorback) compared to like 3 battle companies for 150 dollars( 2 battle company boxes, 3 rhino backs, 1 character pack, 1 razorback pack). That is why GW pushed Apoc and ignores epic but I do not need to tell any of you this. Everyone knows.

Apocalypse games are fun but they are not tactical. Movement is generally vary restricted do to large numbers of units or long distances with slow units. They are just grandous in appearence and seeing how companies of 28 mm minis destroyed in a turn can be fun unless they were your units.

I think the answer is "because we can". As E&C points out, nothing much happens so it's not the game play that is the motivator. It's just about making big-ass armies and game boards.

I'd like to do that with E:A, or Warmaster. Imagine like 50.000 points (per side). :D

Which brings me to a shameless (well, mostly) plug for the Battle for Lombarius Prime being played today at the Chicago Battle Bunker. Pics will be taken, so it will have happened...

OT - Pics or it didn't happen... very quantum, though without pics it can't be said to have been in a state of superposition... so perhaps not.

To quote Adams: You'll have to pardon me; I'm in a good mood today.
