well meh. Didn't really want to do this quite yet, but I ended up placing an order for BFG and a few eldar bits I'll eventually need since the revenants and superheavies are more challenging to find good proxies for. at least I'll have them when I get to eldar.

I'm just hoping that they are getting rid of all the Epic items because they are redesigning the whole range as part of a relaunch. I'd love to see the game we all love getting some support from its makers. Wishful thinking though, I reckon.

I do have to wonder though, do GW think they can survive with just a handful of games? Surely they need a bit more of a range if they are looking at surviving long term?

GW apparently sell more space marines than every other miniature combined, I don't thini having a more 'limited selection' is going to cause them any problems... Plus they keep churning out insipid and generic crap month after month....with no signs of stopping.....

I bought some firestorms, razorbacks and land speeders 2 weeks ago..... quality of all was perfectly fine, especially the landspeeders and firestorms

I was looking at the prices of 40k stuff recently (for about the first time in about 20 years) and was appalled. How can parents afford to buy this stuff for their kids? I remember as a teenager only ever buying the plastic Epic kits because it was all I could afford, I have no idea how teenagers afford it these days.

I assumed that the people buying 40k were the same people who bought it "back in the day" but who now have decent disposable incomes, but is it "the kids"? Maybe parents buy it for them to keep them off the streets.

Yes, GW UK guy said on phone that the items going was part of a 'review' of all ranges, including 40k, fantasy and LOTR, but they had no information on which things would go back into production. He checked if any of the sold out epic stuff was on order for new stock and said that it was not.

My last order previouse to yesterday was early 2011, so no, not really

it's the 'churn and burn' strategy that GW have followed for so long now.... they sell to demographics, not people, they have decided the most profitable demographic is the young teenage boy, he pursuades his parents into buying him a load of stuff, and as GW tries to keep knowledge of any other companies suppressed the parents pay it because 'that's what it costs' if said kid keeps buying the stuff into adulthood, that's a bonus but not essential to GW's model, people will keep having 13 year old male children, so it's a market which will exist for quite a while....

edit: I will say that I didn't buy a *lot* of epic pre-cull, it was mostly stuff I couldn't get hold of via ebay or forums.... I probably only bought around 10-15 packs of stuff until yesterday.....
